Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but American Cafe in DC has closed its many doors...
It was GREAT to read the restaurant reviews (though I think that might mean I'm more than a little vain....I love the restaurants discussed in the DC section...). Suggestions for other restaurants to visit during a new visit:
Il Raddichio: a mini-chain of pasta places, where you buy all you can eat spaghetti, and then buy portions of incredible, inventive, TASTY sauces until you're so full you can hardly waddle home. Many locations, though I prefer the one in Georgetown just north of the intersection of M and Wisconsin.
Cactus Cantina: The best salsa @ a TexMex place in the DC area. The salsas are fresh all the time, the chips are made constantly, and the flavors change depending on the season, the temperature outside, and the fresh veggies available.
My two cents,
Wendy Green
