Blasts from the Past
Reviews and Criticism by Orson Scott Card
For many years, Orson Scott Card wrote copious reviews of science fiction and fantasy short stories for Richard E. Geis's late lamented Science Fiction Review, and then moved on to review novels in his "Books to Look for" column in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.
There has been some loose talk from time to time about assembling all these reviews and essays into book form. But finally we decided that instead of charging people for a book that would be, at best, a minority taste, we would simply provide all these reviews and critical essays, fully indexed, for the online Hatrack River community to browse through at will.
A review may remind you of a story you read long ago or tell you about a writer or book you never heard of and would like to look up. Naturally, all these reviews and essays are protected by copyright. However, fair use allows scholars and students to quote from them, with full citation. And Card asks us to point out that just because he held an opinion in 1980 doesn't necessarily mean he holds the same opinion today!
