So I recently picked up "The Hard SF Renaissance," essentially a collection of Kick-Ass short science fiction stories. The best one in the collection(ive only read about 3/4 so far) is Beggars in Spain by Nancy Kress.
If you can find a copy of this story, Get it. read it.
Basically, its about how genetherapy is used on children and the ability to be "sleepless" is imparted to children. Fascinating read.
Theres a number of other Amazing stories in this book, but so far thats the best.
