Home. There’s no place like it. We find it, build it, break it, redecorate it, lose it, leave it, level it, come back to it, and take it. We make home plates, home pages, home rows, and home planets. Whether we love it, hate it, or feel some other way, we’re rarely indifferent to it, because home is meaningful, wherever or whatever it is.
Your challenge: In at least 1,000 but no more than 5,000 words, write a creative, compelling, and well-crafted story that clearly uses the premise of “HOME.” If you have questions, ask us at Questions@OnThePremises.com.
Deadline: 11:59 PM Eastern Time, Saturday, January 28, 2012.
I thought the last OTP excahnage group went well (if you don't include the fact no one won). I have a story already in mind. I had it sold months ago but the anthology cancelled and all rights have reverted back to me. It could use a couple of tweaks for it to fit the premise better but it's pretty much ready to go.
So would anyone like to join this group? As in the WotF group, attach your name to the list.

I might participate. I like the way you ran this, Frank. I have a story idea, but I'm not real sure I'll be able to get to it by the deadline.

I received their Newsletter and thought about posting this myself.
I wouldn't mind entering their contest again but no new stories until after Nov. Except for one I was in the middle of... might be a good one for Q2. But I have time after Dec 1.
And I need to check to see if I have a Home story already. Seems like I should have a couple but we shall see. If they are older stories they will need work... of various types.

Frank, Will you create an "openings" thread for 16? It seemed the 15 one fizzled. Or was it meant only to be a place to post them? I didn't see any crits.
I'm in and will crit the 13s differently than the whole story. They are super important, so should be scrutinized differently.
Plus, we can bang out a 13 quickly for our stories and get important feedback on them fairly soon as opposed to finishing a draft and waiting for a crit.
Do you think OTP would have a problem with us publicly helping each other?

You mean the plural for dud isn't spelled with an 'es'? What about words like bar, car, had, and fat?
This may explain why I received a cold response from an editor when I complimented him on his beret, insisting his head was capable of filling plenty of hates even if the one he wore now was best suited for the previous century.
In the words of the Texas governor, "Oops".
I think I'm ready to send mine out. I'll likely send it out this afternoon. Any objections?

I can now do my story if there is still anyone also here who hasn't sent in their story and/or can do crits. And if I can recall what story I wanted to send them.

Yeah, I already checked the word count. One story I wanted to use is a thousand words over. It involved someone fighting for his new home and realizing that it was home. And by home I don't mean the house he lived in but the island he moved to.

Okay, forgot about this contest until now. Looks like I still have a week or two to send something. Anyone still open to critting a story for me? 1,200 plus words. It's a simple story and probably needs lots of help since I wrote it.

Drat, After snapper's great crit and my work on it, I missed the deadline. Part of that was that I was out of town on a long weekend date with my wife since Friday, part of it was not keeping up with the date. Last week someone said it was the 24th and I said What! So Soon?
But I can still send it out to somewhere else and snapper's crit will more than likely make it better.

Did you win? They claim they'll say on Wednesday. In the meantime, see if your story fits the parameters of the near misses described cryptically here:

None of those are mine, but I'd rather have one be mine than receive a flat reject. Ha!
I assume they'll announce winners and rejects around the same time through submishmash. Mine still says - in progress - which is what I'm assuming all 237 say.

Well I just got my, "Thanks for playing" e-mail. And no, none of the ones they described are mine.

Got the same reject. I did send in for a crit and I'm willing to share with whomever is interested in seeing what it says.

Please do snapper, I thought yours was pretty good, so I'd like to know what they found wrong. Trying to figure out what these guys are looking for.

I got the thanks but no thanks email too. Didn't ask for the crit, still in my pouting phase. I would love to see what they say about yours, though, Snaps.

Will do. If anyone else would like a viewing of my review, let me know. They said I am 4th in line at the moment

Okay, Axe, you can be on my team. You can play the rover/outer-outfield position. Stand on the otherside of the fence and retrieve all the homeruns for us.
