Here is a pretty random question. Would you consider the name Jess as unisex? I use it in my book as a unisex name that causes confusion, but one of my friends while checking a passage said she had never considered it a unisex name. So wondering if as readers you would go 'Huh, that's not a unisex name, crazy man!' or not.
If so cool, I can change it to a more common unisex name.

I would also consider in Unisex. I'm in California, if that makes any difference, and it might. Could be it's a regional issue. But I have heard a couple males whose name is "Jesse" called "Jess" for short, as well as "Jessica"s that are called the same. YMMV

Just out of curiosity, which gender did your friend think it applies to, because I'm really at 50/50. It's either short for Jessica or Jesse....the former being a girl the latter a boy.
