Liberty Hall has passed the 1000 story mark! We have generated 1012 Flash Challenge stories. Many thanks to Pyxidis and others for maintaining the stats!

We tried to start the flash challenges here at Hatrack, inspired by the rewrite challenge, but there weren't enough features to be able to do what we wanted to do. Instead, we used the forums on my personal website. Eventually we created our own website, which we now use.
The first challenge started on April 1, 2005 and I wasn't sure if we'd do more than one. Instead, we're kicking off challenge #60 on Friday. We now also have short story challenges (14, so far)and quarterly contests for which we offer prizes and a chance at publication.
Go figure.
(Flash challenges = writing in a flash, not necessarily writing flash, although that often occurs.)

Argh. Remember when we were managing 30+ stories at a time, via email? *shudders* The trigger/submittal app makes things SO much wasier now. Best money I ever spent.

Congratulations of a spectatcular success LibertyHallFolk. That is very cool. As a matter of interest, do you have any feedback on what people are doing with those stories? I know some are sold some are in progress.

Now I feel ashamed that I only contributed one of those. I try to get out but weekends have this talent to become complicated.

Don't feel like the lone ranger... I only contributed one as well. I was impressed with the level of writing and the creative turn of stories by a single trigger. Sadly, I just don't have the time most weeks to participate. It's all I can do some days to keep my nose above water!

We do try to keep track of the LH produced stories sold, but I'm not sure all of them have been tabulated. There have definitely been several (not even counting the winners of the various contests sponsored by awesome publications like Shimmer).

The quarterly challenges are working out beautifully.
For those not in the know, Mike also runs quarterly contests where you get a little longer to write (and with various other rules). In addition to the popular choice winners (who get prizes), he's been convincing editors to review the stories and consider them for publication. There's no guarantee that one of the stories will meet the editor's needs, of course, but so far we've had 3 contests and the editors have picked 4 stories, which is a pretty terrific record.
The current issues of Shimmer and Apex Digest have contest winners in 'em. Check it out.
