I have always been in love with the idea of a blood vendetta, so this seems to permeate my writings. My question has this been used too much to be effective. I have put my own spin on it, but we've all seen The Boondock Saints, Dirty Harry, The Unforgiven, etc. I've been writing a Screen Play, based on a Mafioso Vendetta and how far a person will bend under pressure, but will this be too trite, anyone??? I suppose you can make anything new, but you'd be going uphill with me, since vendettas are so far from anything I can imagine doing.
However, "how far someone will bend under pressure" is interesting. What if I were torn between loyalty to the Family and a disgust at what they were doing? That might hook me, if I thought the Family deserved loyalty.

To know how far not to go, check out "Next of Kin" (1998) which is Appalachian family feud meets Chicago mob.

I have grudges against certain people over the years going back to grade school. But I haven't had any opportunity to exercise a vendetta against any of them. And only one involves an entire family, only because more than one of them were involved in the incidents to begin with...
