1. Participate in Flash Challenges every week. This is a no brainer. I'm addicted, and it would be very hard for me to give them up, so I'm not sure that counts as a goal.
2. Choose which story of the three I'm considering to submit to WOTF by no later than June 5.
3. Write that puppy! Rewrite that puppy! Get critiques on it! Write it again! et cetera until June 20th.
4. Get it in the mail to WotF by June 20th. (The deadline for them to receive it this quarter is June 30, and I want to account for the postal system.)
5. This is not a writing goal, but it is important to me: get my housecleaning caught up to the point where I can have people drop in unexpectedly by June 8th. If I set a specific date maybe it will actually happen.

June is always busy for me, so I'm keeping my goals simple. Keep up with rewriting my shortstory "Calvatica" while I'm workshopping it. Continue to brainstorm and research my new short story "Iseau" so I can write a first draft during my vacation in July.

Well, only three days in and I can already slash item #1 off my list. Moments ago I submitted a re-worked and much expanded version of my flash #8 story - Eulogy - to "The Pedestal Magazine". If I feel ambitious I might try to re-work another flash before I leave for Carolina -- well, maybe by the end of the month.

1. Participate in 3 out of 4 flash challenges this month (that's going to be harder than it sounds, in spite of my serious addiction). 2. Get "The New Leagues" in the mail (last month's story from my sub group). 3. Get "Baked Crab" (probably retitled) reworked based on the crits received here (haven't even had time to look at them yet) and in the mail. 4. Determine next flash piece to develop and submit; consider contests for this one. 5. (nonfiction) Develop and query another magazine article, preferably to a new mag.

1. Thorough house cleaning 2. Three newsletters (one is virtually done now) 3. Participate in at least three of Liberty Hall's flash challenges, preferably all 4. Rewrite/edit at least four shorts 5. Submit at least two shorts 6. Find a full time job
1. Finish reading the book my friend let me borrow. 2. Start reading the four books I bought way back in January. 3. Finish my "Shethdyn" rewrite. 4. Finish another chapter in my novel.
- Choose a market for "Master of Roads" and submit. - Add another chapter to "The Castle in the Story" (online story a couple of... I guess you'd call them fans... have asked me to continue) - Go over outline of "Carrick" for fundamental plot/character flaws; when finished, write first five scenes. - Submit section of "Carrick" to F&F. - Give "Over the Transom" a final look/rewrite: submit to Paradox.
1. Develop at least one flash story and submit it, somewhere.
2. Go have a good time at my sister's wedding and have fun relaxing on the beach for a week!
3. Write at least one postcard flash story and send it to someone.
Check! Check! Check! (I managed to write up four postcard stories and sent them off last week. They aren't particularly good, but they were fun. ) --------------- How is everyone else doing?

I've submitted "Over the Transom" to Paradox.
I've looked the outline of "Carrick" over and solved every problem I can see, including a rather nasty one that shows up at the very beginning. I'm now working on the rough draft.
I don't think I'll submit anything but the first section in F&F. I'll worry too much about little things if I do that.
Still haven't decided where to send "Master of Roads".

Well, I worked my tail off on my WotF story but ended up not submitting it after all, due to some critiques that let me know it needs a complete rewrite. So I'm working on a different one and will submit in the next quarter instead.

I'm going to try to keep on writing. My goal is to write at least 3 pages on any of my three WIP's a week.
Is that soo bad a goal? But I'm thinking on shooting for the Jan quarter of WotF, I think it might end up being "Olympus Uprising" going, but who knows. <shrugs>
So until further notice, this is the same thing that's going to be on the "By the end of..." goal thing.

Well, my car broke down and I became stranded at mom's house. So I did not complete most of my goals. I did read more short stories and participated in ONE flash challenge.
Guess the list will continue for July, with some minor tweaking.

I met my goals, however in workshopping my short story “Calvatica” I came to the conclusion that it had to be started again from the first draft. Besides that let down, I actually had a pretty productive month. I almost finished a rough draft of “Iseau”, started a new short story “Bobcats” and thanks to lurking around Liberty Hall I brainstormed a short short. Posts: 397 | Registered: Mar 2004

Thorough house cleaning: ugh. That got deferred to this weekend.
Newsletters: 2 1/2. Now I have 1 1/2 to go for this weekend.
Flash Challenges: Made two out of four.
Rewrite/edit: also 2 of 4
Submissions: Accomplished! Yay!
Full time job: Well, halfway there, anyway. Passed the first exam two days ago, next: training, 12 July. I'm also still pursuing other avenues for employment as well as working on developing my own business. Agh, too many new things going on at once here!
Didn't accomplish everything, but I'm not too displeased with what I did.

Goals one and two met. Goals three through five not. Yuck. Failing grade pretty much anywhere, and rightfully so. This month won't go much better, but maybe there is hope for August.

Okay, earlier I said that I didn't meet my goal, but I really did. I squeeked in just under the wire with my WOTF story, and the only flash challenge I missed was because Liberty Hall was down. House cleaning: still working on it, but I'm making some progress.
