Okay, I don't know how many of you guys write poetry, but few of you show any here, and only a few that I've seen post at Strong Verse. My question is whether or not you guys and gals and weird hermaphroditic alien things(you know who you are) would post poetry for critiques on a forum here, or be more comfortable at Strong Verse?

I thought there was a rule specifically against poetry, for the simple reason few people write long epic poems and would therefore risk giving up their electronic rights and first publication rights, by posting 13 lines or perhaps even the whole piece.
Personally, I don't mind reading poetry, but it is difficult to critique. I like to write poetry on occasion, but haven't really done much of that in the last few years.
If there was a way to poetry here on Hatrack, I wouldn't be against the idea.
The workshop forum there is very helpful to me. The editor of Strong Verse will give you his opinion if you post in the workshop area. I write new poems to post that I don't intend on trying to get published. Once you see the mistakes you're making, you can apply that knowledge to your other work.
I have submitted several poems and from what I can tell, the editor only contacts you when your submitted work is publishable as it stands. So far, I've only had one poem published but I'm participating in the workshop to learn what the editor values in poetry.
To me, the difference in posting here for a critique or at Strong Verse is that you may hit on a poem at S.V. that Mr. Palmer wants to publish.
