I don't know if this is appropriate for this part of the forum or not. But here I go anyway. I nervously annouce that my wife and I have decided to start an ezine (Actually we came up with the concept this past June, but made a cross country move.)
If anybody would like to check it out or even help we'd be really happy.
I know some of you are thinking I did this just so I could publish my own stuff. But I am not going to pushing my work there. (My writing is not up to par yet anyway.) Instead we are asking submissions and will pay $20 for the cover story and $20 for the cover art. Any other contrbutors will have to be happy with exposure and credit. We are asking for electronic rights for six months and the right to archive the stories.
My wife will be working as the editor and I will help as best I can. But if anyone else is interested in submitting or helping let me know.

I checked out the website, JB, and the first thing that comes to mind is the simple stuff, like proofreading your text on the site. For example, you mispelled 'contributions' and 'our' on the submissions page, and the first line of your submissions criteria is grammar and spellings. I blushed. Small stuff, but noticeable. And I don't know if it's my browser, but on the splash page the heading and the text don't wrap, and I wasn't able to scroll.
Aside from that, I'm well aware that you guys just put it up, and there's some tweaking to be done. But the splash page looks interesting. I liked the heading, and as soon as I find something on my harddrive that's under 10,000 words, I'll zip it right out to you.
And that drawing under the Sci-fi banner looks suspiciously like a Predator, that might give you some copywright trouble. (That doesn't mean I don't like it.)
(Edited to add the solution to the problem)

The Parody act isn't as easy to claim as most think. And even if you win a court battle it costs you. (even if the judge awards court costs, it still takes your precious time.)
I just put that as a Better safe than on Fire sort of thing.
BTW: now that I can get more in I like what I see.

No, it is another typo. It should be 2005. Ill fix it.
My wife read the books about ET and about the Predators. IF the ET's decided to be vicious they could easily wage war since they are naturally born with telekinises, telepathy, and are genetic engineers. They grow their space ships. The predators are built for physical combat and have neat technology. It could very well be an interesting fight. But that's another Another copyrighted world.

Hmmm...an individual ET can build a piece of advanced technology out of expedient materials too, while Predators don't generally seem as resourceful when their gear fails them. And TK is one heck of a trump card if push comes to shove.
But against Predators probably the best defense is being a non-combatant. I can't imagine a Predator going after the ETs anymore than I can imagine the ETs deciding to make war on the Predators.
