There were so danged many people just ITCHING to say something or ask questions etc etc etc, that I thought it a good idea to open the discussion zone for the 2nd Rewrite Challenge right from the get-go.

Well I've already got an idea what I'm doing... they just keep on coming. I think this one will be longer than my previous...
I can't believe it. I wrote a short story about 2 weeks ago and completely forgot I'd written it. How does that happen? I've only ever written about 6 shorts...

Well, I've got one done, but I have another concept I'm toying with. Who knows, I might do a second story .

Go for it Robyn Hood! And everyone else. This challenge idea has been a great one--it's satisfying to know so many people have been inspired to write like maniacs by it!

I may need to sit out this one too. The world is still coming down around our ears, and the shaking shows no sign of stopping. Posts: 497 | Registered: Jun 2004

You have no idea how "bad" bad can be until you've hung aroung here for the past six weeks. It tops anything I've ever seen. The last three days have started the snowball all over again. All I can do is keep taking my St John's Wort and hope whoever is in charge of the Voodoo department will decide to leave us alone for awhile.
(But, Hansel and Goatel is still on my wish list. I've just got to get my mind back to such things. Don't feel very creative right now. )

It's trying Dakota. But everytime things settle down, something else starts up, and alot of it is stupid stuff that should never happen to anybody.

Been there, goatboy. And I'm feeling for you. It seems like the world and God are against you and like your misery will go on forever. Hubby and I were in the same kind of situation about four months ago--we're still paying the bills and may be doing so for perpetuity.

Ah, we'll get through it. Dogged single-mindedness has helped us wade some pretty wide rivers before (I just don't recall it taking this long).

Thank Dakota. Every little bit helps. We've got a couple of those two year rivers that have come popping up ourselves.

Goatboy, I truly hope things start looking up for you. It sounds like there are a few Hatrackers who are having some major life crisis in the last little while.
There is an old proverb which is said to be applicable in any situation. It is a comfort to those who need comforting, and it is a warning to those who are comfortable:
"This too shall pass."

Anyways, I hope there are still some people working on this challenge. I look forward to reading a few. So far the one by Yanos was quite good.
Hang in there, guy. I still have a few hugs left in me for others going through a hard time, so here's one just for you: *HUG!!*
The words of encouragement from everyone here really meant a lot to me when I was at my lowest, and still comfort me now. This really is a terrific group of people. And guess what? They're here for you, too. As long as you remember that, everything will be just a little easier to bear. You always have friends waiting for you here at Hatrack. *smile*

Quite good? Quite good! I'll let you know it was no better than mediocre I'm sort of impatiently waiting to see what everyone else will produce now. It will be interesting to see the different takes on the story.

I too shall regrettably have to miss this one, I think. I may still have a first draft by the end of the month, but I doubt it. Challenge or not, I will end up writing this anyway. I had planned for it to be part of a larger work with my character from the last rewrite challenge, so it will be written eventually.

I have one finished and I have about 13 lines for a second one, if I could only get moving on it. Oh well, there's nothing like a deadline to bring out the writer in me

I better get my rear in gear. You'd think, since I proposed the topic, I'd have an idea of what to do about it. Alas, I am drawing a blank. But I think it is important to do this, so I will wrack my feeble brain for inspiration and crank out a story by the end of the month (I hope!).

I think I'm going to make the deadline. This story is practically writing itself, but I got a late start. Should be able to post something by tomorrow.

I started mine, but I had "some issues" with writing earlier this month. So I won't be able to get mine done. I really had a good idea too. Oh well, I will file it and work on it again sometime.
These writing challenges are a good idea, so I hope this continues. My performance this time shouldn't be factored into the success or failure of these challenges. We should keep it going. You never know when something like this will spark that next really cool idea. I say Bravo! to all of you who really did finish the task.

No worries, TrueHero. I'm willing to keep going as long as there seem to be people interested. We have a whole new crop of newbies that I hope will participate in the next challenge:
