Once more I have reached 1000 posts. Last time this happened scholar became scholarette. Scholarette was, of course, a better name then scholar since my gender was clear and scholar seemed a little pretentious to me. Scholarette, though, makes me think of Smurfette.
Since I started posting on hatrack, I have had a baby (but I have talked a lot about her in other posts), gotten a master's (horrible, painful awful experience) and decided I would rather be a stay at home mom then get a job. Since at some level, I associated self worth with employment, this was a pretty big realization. So, a lot has changed in the past several years. My husband has also gone from being a math teacher, to a grad student to a quality engineer in terms of career.
We also expanded our family by getting a second mini dachshund (the first one was before I was on the boards). So, in addition to my red cowardly dachshund named Mars (after the god of war), I have a little black and brown one named Loki- who is a total troublemaker.
I have numerous hobbies, especially now that I don't work. I like to sew, though I am still a beginner. I have made myself a dress and a skirt, numerous dresses for my daughter and our Halloween costumes. I love to cross stitch and have several projects currently in the works. My huge one is called Turandot and depicts the princess from the opera. It is 42 pages-253,200 stitches. I plan to be working on that one for years. I also play board games a lot. Since I have had my daughter, I have had a bit less time for that though. I used to play warhammer every Saturday, but can't play around the munchkin (too many neat pieces) and I don't like the game enough to hire a sitter.

Wow.; you got to show pictures of all of those things. I'm impressed by the Turandot cross stitch.

This is my crafty blog. Most of my cross stitch WIPs are in early stages though, so not that interesting yet.

I want pictures of your Warhammer stuff all setup. You sound like you've got a really fun family/life setup. You definitely make hatrack more of a draw for at least myself.
Let's hope you don't change your handle again.

BB- I do need to take some pics of my figures. Maybe on Wednesday when Bin is at school. My main army is Vampire Counts, though I also have started a wood elf army.
rivka- we named our first dog after the god of War and he is the most peaceful, cowardly dog you will ever meet. We figured that with dogs, they behave opposite of what their names imply. That, and I have a nephew named Thor, so we thought it would be funny to name our dog after Thor's enemy. Well, to be fair, Thor is my nephew's middle name and it never caught on. His brother is Bruce after the Hulk.

Besides, they always say that if the first babies an angel, the second with be a nightmare... I guess that works for puppies too!

True that. Back when I was heavily involved in gerbil genetics, (don't snicker) I had this unique female that I was desperately trying to pair with a male. After three months doing everything "by the book" I absolutely could not get this female to respond positively to the male. She kept trying to claw his face off, even though he was very sweet and desperate to be accepted by her. I so clearly remember turning to my husband in exasperation and asking, "what am I doing wrong?" His answer was, "That's what you get for naming them Anne and Gilbert."
Anyway, congrats on 2,000 (total) posts, scholarette. I feel silly for never realizing you were the same as scholar. And I'm right there with you on the costume-making and the cross-stitching. Did one of them get really sick, which forced the other to express her maternal instincts, and then fearing he might never get another chance the male expressed his unceasing adoration?

I'll be honest the most boring part of the entire AOGG saga is her schtick as a teacher teaching all those Pringle girls.

And, no, what happened with the gerbils is that the female went into heat, and the male went crazy because of it and forced his way through the chicken wire enclosure to get to her, and apparently she thought he was so manly that she decided to let him stay, because she never attacked him again.
That is until she had the first litter. Then she kicked him out of the nest and he had to build his own. But he got back at her by repeatedly stealing babies from her, which she had to hunt down.
So, you know, an almost-perfect allegory right there.

Yup- painting is part of the fun. Though right now, that is the problem with my wood elves. I can't figure out the right color scheme for them. I have tried several and they just don't look right. So, I don't ever play that army.
