I never really introduced myself when I first created a screen name so I'll do it now... My name's Caitlin, I'm 27 and I found Hatrack while looking for info on the Shadow Series after a solo move about 800 miles from home. What a great place to stumble upon.
I really enjoy Hatrack for a lot of reason. I like that there's fluffy threads I can post in and I like that there's heavy threads I can read and just soak up. I love the diversity and the fact that despite the varied personalities and beliefs The Rack is still a fun place to come spend five minutes or an hour...
My landmark's nothing spectacular - I just felt like celebrating reaching four digits. This is the first forum I've ever participated in and it feels sort of cool to reach a sort of benchmark!
One of the biggest things Hatrack did for me is to make me realize that I could be doing more... With all of the missions and charity donations and just cool, giving people who talk about what they do - I realized that I was selling myself short by not giving back enough.
A few weeks ago, I went down to the local Y and filled out a volunteer application. I now find myself the coach for one of the 4-5 year old soccer teams. We had our first practice tonight and it was really, really awesome. I don't think there's anything as cool as a bunch of super energetic kids ready to play. Oh - and the first time one of the kids said 'Coach Cait' - I almost melted right there!!!
I have Hatrack to thank for these next two months of fun... So thanks. I'm sure there are some other ways that I have been and will be influenced - I'm looking forward to it.
Thanks, Hatrack, for getting me off my lazy bum. Looking forward to the next thousand...

CMC, I've always been curious, what is your middle name. I have always visulized it as being the same as mine.

So you're a volunteer now, good good. Just don't forget, what's most important is the kids and you can be replaced. What's best for the kids is best for the coach, not the other way around. Just a fair warning, I've seem some volunteers forget why they were doing what they were doing.

SteveRogers - Can that be taken at face value or is there a story behind the monotonous voice?
Griffin: No doubt. I've worked with kids since I was just being done being a kid myself. That's why I went with the younger kids for my first stint as a coach... I've got the basics of soccer down, but I'm really good with the positive reinforcement and it's all about having fun thing. I'm pretty sure that we'll all go out there and have a good time (they're 4 and 5, i actually even have a 3 year old on my team)... if a few fundamentals get some help being established along the way - even better. Thanks for the input - it's definitely something to remember.

I really have a monotonous voice. I've been made fun of for it. Some people think I'm on drugs. I just don't emote very well. But, whatever. I don't really care what they think. I think my voice is cool.

I worked as a teachers assistant over the summer once, it was the hardest job I ever worked, but it was also easily the best one I ever had.
Good choice on coaching soccer! The US soccer team needs just a few more quality players and we will rub Europe and South America's faces in our world cup!

First game was on Saturday and was awesome. There were three goals scored on the opponent's goal... (we don't keep score) my kids made one of them... ; )
Deciding to coach this team was definitely one of the better decisions in my life.
Thanks for all the comments, guys!!

Congrats on your landmark and your first game!
I have to say, it surprised me to see that you only registered nine months ago. You're a presence that I recognize here.
