I guess you would call this my first landmark. I'm still kind of in shock though. I've been thinking about what to sy for about a month now, but as soon as I decided on something, I changed my mind. So, I guess I'll just write whatever I feel like.

I turned 18 yesterday, and my High School Graduation is this upcoming Saturday. I still can't believe it's here already... I have two days of high school left. Ever. And I'm not ready for it...

Ever since I was little, I had this weird fear that I wouldn't live to graduation. I can't explain it, it's just something I've always believed. Now graduation is six days away, and I'm scared out of my mind. But I finally have a good friend, a great friend, the best one I've ever had, who has done more for me in the short time we've been close than anyone else ever has in my life, and she has promised to see me through til graduation. I can't really expect her to be able to keep that, seeing as there are certain things she can't control, but it's oddly comforting to know someone cares about me that much.

There are so many people I've known over the years- I'm still amazed by how many people I recognize when I walk through the local mall. There are two people on this forum in particular that have had a huge influence on me as I've changed and grown- Tante and KQ. These two women have helped me mature in ways I can't name. I'm eternally grateful for their assistance in everything I've been through.

I don't really know what else to say about this... I'm still kind of in shock. I don't even know what I'm going to do next. I know I'm going to register to vote soon, and one of my friends wants to take me dancing... but other than that, I have no idea what to do. I guess I'll just have to take it as it comes.

Congratulations on reaching 18 and graduating! I think the best thing to do is celebrate. [Smile]

Wait till you get to college and suddenly recognize hundreds more people in addition to the couple hundred you know from high school. It's ridiculous.

Congrats Tinros. It's a great year. As somone who's just past 18, I know. And next year is college and a whole new adventure. And, if you ever seem something comfortable to hold on to, just always know that Hatrack is here for you.

I don't know how I helped you, immature as I am, but I'm glad if I have.

[Kiss] Congratulations on your graduation. You're going to be fine. Really. And it's totally okay to take it as it comes, at least for a little while. After all, you just survived 13 years of school! Take a little time to explore yourself, to figure out what it really is you want in life, so you can go for it when you find it. [Smile]

(Not that I should talk, except that I did that. I'm turning 23 this Sunday...)

I feel so free right now. I'm doing a lot more with my friends, getting closer to them and cramming as much in with them this summer as I can so when I go to college, I'll have plenty of fond memories to look back on. I just got to be really close to the friends I have now, and my best friend is a grade below me, so I know I'll be coming home often... but it's a surreal experience. I'm also going a little crazy- I'm going to get my ears pierced again and dye my hair(temporarily) black. A big change, I know, but I want to do something fun, something I won't be able to do years from now. I'll be smart, and I'll be safe, so no worries.

As for the recognizing hundreds of people... I'm going to a school of population 50,000 plus, so I don't think I'll have too much trouble meeting people. Whether I ever see them again is another question altogether.
