Before anyone even thinks about it, yes, the title is based on A New Kind of Science by Wolfram (which is, by the way, a brilliant book which I think everyone should read). Anways, though I’m not going introduce a new emoticon (ohh, that would be so cool! Now I wish I was) or anything, I’ll introduce a new use for them, one which I’ve been using rather sporadically.
Perhaps no one has noticed it, but a few times when I’m giving people e-hugs (which, if it isn’t they’re official name, should be) I will use smilies instead of parenthesis or brackets. I like this because it let’s you express your emotion while giving a hug, and a hug is, by definition, an emotional act. Of course I’m just suggestion this for use by all of you Jatraqueros, not imposing rules, but I do have a few standard methods of use. One is that the parentheses and brackets are still acceptable hugging, but when you feel that a certain emotion is expressed by the hug, emoticons can help. Also, if someone is having a rough time I would use the “ “ smilie, not because I hope to transfer unhappiness but because that is the emotion I’m feeling when I give the hug. So if I’ve ever given you a “sad” hug, it’s not because I wan to make you sad, but that I emphasize with your negative emotions. One further note, I’ve found that most of the time the “ ” and “ ” smilies serve the same purpose so they aren’t both necessary. However, when both are included, it makes it look a little more appealing.
Anyways, I just figured I’d use what will be my third landmark thread to promote more hugging and smiling. Seemed like the appropriate thing to do.
I was just reading your other thread from the middle of the night, and I realized that I was awake. Silly me for not being at Hatrack to offer you your cake.

Hobbes Way to make it to 3000. And kudos for your defense last night in that agnostic/atheist thread. I saw your website, are you an astronomy major or just interested? Did you know that the Suns's output peaks near green? This is why chlorophyll is green. Also, human eyes' sensitivity peak at green as well. This is one of those weird fact groupings that would support evolution or the existence of God. P.S. if you find out different, don't tell me. All I have is trivia. Morbo

Hobbes, I read your first landmark. I enjoyed it. Your second and third have so little information about you. Come on! Give us more of yourself!
