Those were the worst to use because you had to cook a separate link for every reply, or reset the forum every time. I think I had registered at one point, but that was long forgotten.The signal to noise ratio was abysmal, but I did like learning a bit more about a movie or an actor that I had just watched.

It's been my habit for something like 15 years to check the imdb board of any movie that sounded interesting or was generating buzz to get an instant and reliable "word of mouth" take on it--i.e what the regular cinephiles are saying. It was an international forum full of trolls, but it was really cool for that purpose. There's no equivalent available right now.

The last time I went there, interestingly, was when looking for people to talk with about "Ender's Game".^^ The movie, at that point. I've since read the book.
