Which ten music albums would you bring to a desert Island?

I would suggest to have limitation to one album per band or performer.
Live albums are eligable.
The number of records/discs for a title can be more than one. Looking for lists of 10 titles.

This is my current list (in no particular order)

1. Thick As A Brick - Jethro Tull
2. Forever Changes - Love
3. Cosmo's Factory - Creedence Clearwater Revival
4. C.Q. - The Outsiders
5. Relayer - Yes
6. Head Hunters - Herbie Hancock
7. The Human Equation - Ayreon
8. Y'all Get Scared Now, Ya Hear! - The Reindeer Section
9. Space Bio Charge - Yoko Kanno & The Seatbelts
10. Godbluff - Van der Graaf Generator

I am sure that if you ask me to compile a list five years from now, it will be different. I am looking forward to seeing some more lists and maybe discover some awesome music through them.

the little people album is the dark horse on there simply because it provides a groovy enough instrumental track to play for when you're knuckling down and getting work done on your desert island, such as the construction of a thatch hut or something (no really try it out at work it's great)

everything else is on there because it's just peerless, man, peerless

I'd want 10 new albums that I've never heard before so at least I have something interesting to do and analyze, even if it turns out I don't like them. The classic albums we've all heard a million times would get old really quick for me. I'm not much of a background music person (outside of bars), I mostly like listening to music when I'm paying attention to it.

For the size and weight of 10 CDs I could have a terabyte or more of mp3s. Take a long time to listen to all of them. I could get one of every recorded piece from Bach, Beethoven and Chopin with plenty of room to spare for Nirvana, Tool, Rush and whatever else I could think of.

That is true. However, the idea of the exercise is to give a list of of albums that you could listen to over and over and not get bored with them.

If there wasn't a limitation on the stuff I could bring to the desert Island, I would bring my new laptop and the necessary stuff for a satellite connection. That way I could just stream all the music I wanted and play some minecraft or terraria (in case I wanted a break from all the real life gathering, building and such).
