Today at our weekly meeting it struck me that my boss "Thinks like Tetris in a world that's....
um.....
that's really very not Tetris like."
My boss thinks things through in a very organized fashion, but in such a way that he expects the world to respond in an organized way. Like Tetris, he is ready for the 5 various square pieces to fall, and he will fit them smoothly into the game of life and score well.
But life is not that organized. I need another game that uses more random--odd shaped pieces to reflect the random-odd shaped problems that life throws at us.
Similar phrases would be: "He's mastered Checkers in a Chess World" meaning he isn't up to deep thinking.
"He's playing Candyland in a GT4 World" meaning he's naive.
or
"He's great at Badminton in an Football World" meaning he is way out of his league.

Oddly enough, Tetris taught me that you need to NOT be reliable for a particular shape to arrive to fit in a particular sized hole, because sometimes a bunch of random shapes come that you weren't prepared for.

They may be random, but they are of a limited number of types. The world we live in the shapes that fall on us are not limited to 4 connected squares, but may be blobs, wheels, or giant lizard feet.

Seriously, though. If you want a direct correllation (video game), maybe Little Big Planet? It's entirely about organic whimsy. But unless someone's familiar with it, you'd lose a few people.
"Thinks like Tetris while playing marbles." Maybe.
