And nothing for Channukah either - besides a loving family, a warm home and good food. Not to mention greater economic prosperity than humans have had for the vast majority of their existence.

I got a couple of really nice books that I'm looking forward to, though I probably won't get the chance to read them until the Summer. I got a nice history of Teddy Roosevelt's adventure in the Amazon, and a tome-like history of the Ukraine. Also got a couple dvds and a wireless keyboard, which all look nice.

My neighbor came over and cleared my driveway with his snowblower. We're in the middle of a winter weather advisory and have already gotten several inches of snow, plus I hadn't completely cleared the driveway from the snowstorm 2 weeks ago. That was quite the Christmas present.

As I live overseas, I got money. There was the intention however that I buy an ipod touch with some of the money my parents gave me. A modest and comfortable haul for me.

Well, I got Beatles Rock Band. I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty awesome.
As for what I gave...mostly cookies. And I shoveled half my dad's driveway (no small feat). It was a good Christmas with some of the best sledding I've ever experienced. Such a great way to spend time with my neice and nephew.

I was really pleased with pretty much every gift I got this year, amazingly. I got a couple of novels by David Louis Edelman, who I know nothing about (but they look pretty interesting), some nice jeans from my wife, a garage door opener from my mom, nice shirt, wireless keyboard and mouse combo, Jenga, a cute 'memo clip' (giant clothespin) from my kindergärtner that says "Dad's Stuff", and a bunch of other nice gifts. One of these nifty gadgets.

I got an e-book reader, though it won't arrive for a while. The Barnes and Nobles nook is on backorder for a while, but I will enjoy it when it gets here.
My kids all got new iPods, except my son who got new games for the XBox. I'm typing this on a laptop in front of the fireplace and listening to my family enjoy their Christmas presents - I have all I could ever wish for.

Don't say "for some reason" like you didn't specifically ask for those things, you Cronkite, Hulk loving fiend.

Christmas was about the little one this year. She ended up getting enough for three little girls to have a great Christmas. Pretty much all the Kai-lan toys they have, most of the Strawberry shortcake toys, some clothes, a wooden train set, all the best of the Target $1 section toys, a bunch of artsy stuff and a mulan doll.

My wife and I bought mutual gifts, one that we would both like, for our family. I am waiting for my approval to test from the Florida Board of Nursing, so I am still out of work until I get that.
We don't care if something is new, so we decided to buy used items for the most part, at least for the big items. That way we could get 2 or 3 things rather than one medium sized one.
I got a ps3, which she wanted (I bought it used really cheap to sell on ebay, but SHE insisted we keep it for the Blu-Ray player), Modern Warfare 2 (on it's way) for it, and a DS game (Modern Warfare Mobilized, which I am returning to buy Scribblenauts).
Jenni got a DS Lite, in perfect condition, 4 games for it (Frogger, PacMan, Big Brain Academy and Brain Age 2), a foot massager, and the newest Harry Potter on Blu-Ray.
We went to PA for my cousin's wedding, and saw my entire family (minus a few who couldn't make it due to health reasons), which was the best present of them all, of course.
I honestly think that this is the first Christmas in my history I didn't either get a book or a gift card to a book store. I am going to B&N later for Jim Butcher's new release, First Lord's Fury, to rectify that situation.

To be honest, I got a lot of wonderful gifts this Christmas, more than I could possibly merit. I feel completely spoiled and deeply, unspeakably grateful.
There were gifts to keep me warm (new pyjamas and slippers, both of which I've been longing for but couldn't afford, and candles). Gifts to help me in the kitchen (cookie and muffin trays, a colander, and olive oil). Gifts of sheer excess and joy (book store card and Lush bath products). And one wonderful jatraquera sent me the means to switch all my old lj entries to "friends only", which may sound silly but when I was 20 I did not envision wanting to hide my past from future students.
I am well and truly blessed, and in a year when I truly needed to feel loved, people I couldn't even imagine stepped up and just blew me away (and I'm not just talking about stuff here anymore). Possibly my best Christmas ever.
Also, my first married Christmas and my first Christmas where I got to sleep in, ever. Pretty spiffy!

I am thinking that my present to myself next year is to avoid all family (except my husband and daughter).

Scholarette, I want that present too! I love my extended family, but they did a lot of things this year that annoyed me. Not least of which to have the gall to question my career plans and what I was doing with my life.

My favorite gift was a USB hub in the shape of the TARDIS. When I plug in a USB device, it makes the whirring TARDIS noise. The novelty may wear off shortly, but for now, it amuses me.

Around Thanksgiving time I got a new--off lease computer. At least my tech is in the right decade--for a few days anyway (or a year depending on how picky you are.)
That, my wife promised me, was the extent of my gifts from the family.
She then got me a cool new hat for my magic shows. Say what you want about Target's style in gifts, but they have some nice retro-hats. Its not a magic hat with secret compartments--but it is balanceable-juggleable- and trickable.
Sasha made me a sweet sun-catcher of a Wizard.
My Aunt usually gives very nice sweaters and such, but this year we promised only for the kids, and it actually held--nothing there.
And nothing from the Hatrack gift exchange since that floundered this year.
And nothing from most of work accept my boss. Times are tight.
I did get a $25 gift card to a local magic shop from the boss. Sweet.
My parents and family do the other big gift thing. I got a special saw from them. My father has a well stocked workroom, but is physically unable to do any work in it. Instead of letting the neighbor kids steal it all, he has been giving it out. An expensive Rotary Saw is now in my workroom being ignored.
I also got pants that don't fit and a digital photo album and underwear.
Over all-- I give this one a B- in gifts. In fact, over all I just haven't been in the Seasonal mood.

I got a(nother*) fleece pullover from my parents, some food things (nuts and hot chocolate mix) from my boss, some acrylic yarn from my sister and Trixie got some new toys from her "cousin" Charlie (my sister's dog).
ETA: And a nifty cutting board from a friend.
*I liked the one I got three years ago so much that Mom has stuck with the idea since.

I got a scarf, a really colorful woven bag I never would have bought for myself but that I love, a pair of comfy slippers and a Lands End gift certificate.
And I bought myself the Mistborn trilogy (it was originally going to be a gift for someone else but I decided I wanted to keep it). I'm about halfway through the first book and loving it.
