Recently Virgin had a competition called the "Most Fearless Canadian". One person I know personally, someone who goes by the name of Star Spider, entered the competition.
Here fear was claustrophobia. In order to conquer that fear, and to have the opportunity to meet someone she's wanted to for quite some time, she locked herself in an isolation chamber for a full hour...
...which quite frankly is an impressive thing to do. I know of several people that were claustrophobic, and they all would have freaked out uncontrollably.
She ended up being one of the three finalists, and got to meet Richard Branson in person at the final competition.
Well, the competition did not go particularly well, and she makes an interesting case of it here:
Besides the rather thoughtless treatment of the animals, at one point Richard Branson himself grabs a handful of live waxworms (which they were referred to as maggots, even though they weren't) and hurls them in to the audience.
The post and video forcuses more on the lives of the animals than of the act itself, but I figured I'd mention it here to see how people feel about it.

quote:We managed to save eleven wax worms from being crushed to death on the noisy, crowded floor. Had we not been there, they would have most certainly lost their lives.
Are you sure this isn't self-parody? Because I've wiped out her "success" in one afternoon of fishing.

I eat delicious cow meat, as a matter of fact my favorite burger includes eggs and bacon, three farm animal in one bun. I do not eat dog, dolphin and elephant (not to say that I have had the chance to eat elephant) lets talk when worms show the ability to mourn the loss of one of thier own.
Tom Davidson= more deadly than Richard Branson, if your a worm.

Admittedly, I didn't give much thought to the "saving" of the worms... It's Branson just blindly throwing worms in to a non-participating audience that kind of bothered me.
