You never know, Simon was so terrible to David C. that he may get a sympathy boost. And with things looking so easy for David A., people may not vote like fiends. I know I'm not. Looks like I missed the easy window, too.

I think that Archuleta should win mostly because I have the same taste in music as him. I have loved EVERY song choice.

I honestly don't understand what everyone sees in the kid. Just my opinion, of course. I don't deny that he's talented, but his ability to deliver a consistently stellar performance (not just vocals) doesn't even begin to compare to that of Cook.

I'm watching the performances only now online, and I can't believe Cook tried to sing U2. He'd be a good lead singer for a band, but Archuleta's Elton John is better than the real Elton John - last night, anyway.
I mean, I couldn't believe Archuleta would try to sing B.B. King, but by the end of "Stand by me" I was impressed.
The second round of songs were boring, I'll grant.
So what does that phone idol software measure? I don't understand. I guess the person who goes first gets a 10 minute lead time, and the most votes are cast in that time. There are the most busy signals at the top of each hour as the time zones roll across the end of the show.
I did like Cook's third song, and listening to it, I think there there probably were some U2 songs he could have done justice to. And I didn't like hearing Archuleta do "Imagine" again, but that mostly has to do with the song lyrics controversy - if he doesn't like the first verse, he should just sing a different song.

I've been bored by David A. since the beginning. I haven't seen every show, but all of his performances (that I saw) had a bland kind of sameness. Of course, given the past few years of the show, that's exactly what the voters want.

He was doing well on that song until he added that stupid part. I hate that song. I haven't been thrilled with contestants since Melinda Doolittle, who really should have won.

david a is a great singer no doubt but when i watch him, it is like watching a high school talent show. I am waiting for him to do JAZZ HANDS. He is no entertainer... plus, i would never buy an album of his. Isn't that the point of the show?

I think it comes down to preference in music. They are both about equally as talented but their styles are opposite. It will be interesting to see who really comes out on top but either way they'll both get record deals. I actually really liked what David C did with the U2 song. He seemed like he had a bit of a sore throat though last night which made it tough for him but he still sang well. I didn't like that David A did Imagine again. I wanted to be wowed with something new not listen to something he already did....

I want Archuletta to win because it would be the best scenario for both of them. David COok wants to be a rocker, and winning would hurt his cred more than it would help him - he's already going to get a record deal.

David Archuleta is good, but there are better, and I think that is true of all the contestants this year.
I think more than talent is the ability to find yourself and find you personal nitch in the entertainment industry.
Clay Akin has done a great job of this, and while he may never be a 'top of the pops' singer, I think he will have along and successful career.
On the other hand, Justin Guarini has not been that successful because he simply couldn't define himself clearly and distinctly in the Pop arena.
I mean, it would seem success was a sure thing for him, he has a great voice, he is impossibly cute and sexy, and yet where is he? Who has heard of him recently? Fame and a cute face will only take you just so far.
Also, note that David is singing live, and Declan is given a studio performance.
I'm not saying Declan is great, but he is good, and he already has the start of a good international career, though I don't think he has the best management at the moment.
Dave C is a rocker and does that well, Dave A is a crooner and he does that well. I think they both have potential, and it doesn't matter which wins, what matters is what they do with the exposure. Keep in mind that Clay Akin came in second. We have heard a lot more of him than we have of the guy who came in first.
For those contestants and performer who are all about the 'art' and who can define themselves, I think they have great potential. But those who are obsessed with 'Fame' and 'Celebrity' are doomed to failure eventually.
Edited: I thought I would add one more video just for perspective -

Not everyone is in the same timezone, Sherlock.
(Says the lady who has spent 20 years honest to goodness mixing up Ben E. King and B.B. King -- bought the wrong albumn and everything. I just thought he was really Vegas in his early years. Jordin Sparks won me with "I who have nothing". That song is hilarious.)

I think Simon was mean to him on purpose. He manipulated people into voting for who he wanted to win.

I agree, and then he tried to save face by apologizing to him right before the winner was announced.

Actually I'm thankful David A didn't win. I don't think he's ready for the limelight just yet and maybe he'll get a chance to mature a bit more before getting consumed by the music biz.

I think Number Two is pretty well consumed, too, especially if they really like him, which they do, and wanted him to win, which they did.
