Yeah, somehow I can't get as excited about comic books as I would about a movie or miniseries or tv show.

Yeah, his comic books are generally really, really disappointing. He changes his style and his stories get way more far out when he's writing for comics vs. TV or Movies.

At least Summer Glau will be playing a similar role in the upcoming new Terminator movie. I just love it that a delicate, fragile-looking premiere ballerina is going to be a terminator. But look at what a potent militarily enhanced super-weapon she was in Serenity! That ballerina skill with twirling and kicking actually must come in handy in the highly choreographed fight scenes.

I particularly liked the comic that they have out right now. It's different than either the show or the movie, yes, but it's still the same ship and people. I think they might just need to bring some of the original writers back in.

When the movie and the tv show differ, which is considered correct? Also, is it assumed that the movie ending is actually going to happen? Or is the movie an alternate universe?

Quite right, Lisa. The new terminator role for Summer Glau will be in a TV series, not a new terminator movie. It is set in the time between Terminator 2 and Terminator 3. Sorry if I got up anyone's false hopes. There is a Terminator 4 movie in the works. According to Wickipedia: "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is expected for release in either 2009 or 2010."
The upcoming TV series is titled: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Linda Hamilton does not star in this one. The part of Sarah Connors will be played by British actress Lena Headey. Summer Glau will play a terminator in this series. The first two-part episode is due to premiere on Sunday, January 13, 2008.
This also from Wickipedia:
quote:In a June 20, 2007 interview, Friedman revealed that the writers and producers are going to avoid the Terminator of the Week plot device and that Sarah, John, and Cameron will have other threats than just Terminators. Skynet will also come into play as the series progresses. Furthermore, Friedman stated that the events of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines have no bearing on this timeline, but do occur in an alternate timeline. In addition to having planned the entire story arc for the first season, Friedman has a rough idea for the plot of the following three seasons.
Note that reference to an alternate timeline. You guessed it, scholar. I guess that is fair game, though, when you are playing with time travel in your story line.

adfectio, if you had posted this earlier, I would have FREAKED OUT because I sent you the Serenity book. Luckily, I didn't read this till after you confirmed you got my gift, and that you hadn't already owned it.
Phew! (There's no relief graemlin. There should be. It would go here.)

Chris, Summer rocked in Serenity, but she did not say very much. Does she have more of a speaking role in the TV series pilot you saw?

There probably will not be as many high-tech special effects action scenes in the TV series, since a TV show typically has a far smaller budget for such things than a big, one-shot movie, that stands to make hundreds of millions at the box office, and thus can recoup a large expediture for special effects. Although, with advances in CGI, the cost of many special effects is getting lower. When you record your scenes digitally, and can control every individual pixel on the screen, it all becomes a matter of software.

Lol, sorry to scare you. I read it in about the first 15 minutes of opening it. I was really pumped. And then to find out that more are coming? EEK! It just made me one happy guy.

Summer does have more to say in the show, and is very much more "take charge." She also plays a convincing teenager, even though she's in her mid-twenties now.
And there was a fair amount of SFX which, at least on my non-HD screen looked well done.

You guys are crazy. Summer Glau was the worst character on the show. That's a stone cold fact. Don't argue.
