I need to expand my list of good webpages to read at lunch, because it's taking me about 45 minutes to eat, but only 35 to finish with the newspapers, blogs, and forums I hit. So what sites are on your reading lists? I'm particularly looking for places with analysis of the news, rather than just the news itself; and my interests tend to the economic rather than political side of things, but with explanations geared to a layman rather than someone intending to make money off the stuff. Suggestions?

There is a good selection of stuff on scienceblogs.com if you're into sciency things. I like www.scienceblogs.com/dispatches in particular - it's not strictly science-related and covers a lot of church/state and other "culture wars" issues.

Salon.com is often worth a look, as is Wired.com. The Christian Science Monitor's not a bad one to check out either.

I'd suggest the Economist. Some of my favorite blogs on my RSS include: marginal revolution (economics - tidbits and meaty stuff, culture, books, food), Violent Acres (general topics - I think you'd enjoy the writer's viewpoint on a lot of things), lifehack (productivity and personal finance), the simple dollar (mostly personal finance), the best article ever (completely random, typically awesome), and future pundit (random science articles).

Also of interest is SciTechDaily which links to a lot of interesting articles, and more importantly has a buncha links to online blogs/forums/news sites and magazines on the lefthand side when ya scroll down. Handier than bookmarking them individually.
