While the songs are great, I find the rest of the show painful and unfunny.
My husband loves it.
I'm wondering if they're going to be able to keep up with the good songs. Their best ones were in the first couple of episodes. (The Distant Future, Boom, Prettiest Girl In The Room) I didn't particularly enjoy the ones last night, I mean Business Time was fine, but it didn't evoke more than a chuckle.

Most of the songs get better after you listen to them a second time. For example, at first I thought the song about Sally was mediocre, but after reading the lyrics while listening to it again it was a lot funnier.
As for the rest of the show, most of the jokes are a unique type of comedy. Personally, I find them hilarious, but I can see how some people don't like/get the jokes.

I think I'd have trouble listening to a group called the Conchords that wasn't a college a capella group.

I get the jokes, I just don't like the stuttering, awkward type of humor.
And yes, I like the songs better when I listen to them a second time. I wish they'd put out an album.

I watched the first 1 1/2 episodes. I couldn't even finish the second. Just not that funny to me.

That's probably because the second episode was not funny at all. The other episodes are a lot better, especially the the last two.

you can go to youtube and check out some of their songs that they perform live(they have a stand up type comedy music routine).

They're much better as a live comedy duo. The HBO show is moderately funny, primarily because the lyrics are hilarious no matter how they're dressed up, but FOTC reaches a whole 'nother level when they're free to improvise and bounce banter off of each other. Their appearance on "One Night Stand," also on HBO, is one of the best standup performances I've ever seen.
It helps that their songs are actually very good musically- they're not just parodists, they're actually talented pop songwriters, who happen to be incredibly funny lyricists and performers as well. Nobody skewers the self-important aspects of pop music (from folk to funk to hip hop) quite like Brett and Jemaine.

I love these guys! I didn't think anyone else had even heard of them. I should have known better, of course. This is Hatrack after all. Posts: 1945 | Registered: Jul 2005

My mother and I watched an episode tonight and found it quite clever, even to the point of laughing out loud. Good times. Posts: 3932 | Registered: Sep 1999

I like it a little. But it just makes me wish long for the Doug Anthony All Stars. Tho DAAS were far cruder, their comedy was often bitingly witty.

Okay, so this is my favorite show right now. I find it to be very clever and entertaining without ever being too crass. It warms my heart. The tour episode was uncharacteristically painful for me, though. I felt so horrible for Murray.
Foux da Fa Fa and Bowie to Bowie are my favorite songs and song sequences thus far.
Rhymocerous and the Hiphoppotomous battle is a close third.

I'm sure they will work in Jenny eventually. Since I don't have HBO, though, I am dying for the DVD. The clips on their site aren't enough!

as much as i love the show, I like the live performances better. I think their performances are better there, and I love their on stage banter.

FOC's future doesn't seem too firm. This article about John from Cincinati being cancelled aludes to uncertain future for FOC.

I never expected it to last. I'm just eagerly awaiting the DVD, extras, deleted scenes, outtakes, and hopefully some frequin' hysterical commentaries.

"Won't you please remove these cutleries from my knees?"
Hehe...
I just finished watching the season (series?) finale on the dvr. A bit disappointing compared to previous episodes, but still pretty awesome. It even ended with some tension!
So what do you guys think? Will it get another season? My hope is that it'll at least get them another HBO special, or perhaps a Comedy Central Presents.
