First off, let me say that I believe Lynn Johnston to be very talented. For Better or For Worse is one of the very few modern "dramedy" strips to deserve the circulation it gets.
That said, is anyone else kind of creeped out that Liz has been shoehorned into reuniting with her childhood sweetheart?
It's been foreshadowed for the past couple years of the strip, but I kept holding out hope that Johnston would decide to let Liz be the way she originally developed...her own person, with a life that didn't resemble her mother's much at all.
Now here she is...back in the old neighborhood, with her old squeeze, ready to fall into old patterns...
...is Anthony really all that great a catch? He whines constantly about how much his adult life sucks. His obsessive fixation on his childhood girlfriend manages to be two times more disturbing than Anakin Skywalker's crush on Padme' Amidala.
While this may turn out to be a dead end, I know Johnston's spoken openly of ending the strip soon. I fear she's trying to force a "happy" ending for Liz that really doesn't seem all that happy.

I have been ignoring FBOFW for about 2-3 years. I used to love it. It got weird when first April, then Elizabeth got older and started having "relationships".

Ever read www.comicscurmudgeon.com? You'll find a very vocal community of people who loathe where Johnston's been going with the strip for the last three years.
Michael's marriage to Deanna was pretty much the beginning of the end.

I was pissed when Paul cheated on her. They were practically engaged, and he was a fine, upstanding guy. Yeah, she ran off back to the city on him, but the way she built his character, he should have let her know when he started having doubts when she was gone. This just made it so every guy she's dated since Anthony has either cheated on her or been too unavailable to even have a relationship with. That's stupid.

Me, I got squicked the moment Anthony essentially said, "I've always loved you! Let's cheat on my frigid wife!" not two minutes after saving her from an attempted rape. Which is still to date the only remotely useful thing he's done since adulthood.
