I have the day off. Sent my girlfriend 5 dozen roses to her work to make her co-worker's jealous. She's having me pick her up from work so she can "show me off." Then we'll have a nice dinner then on to the theater to see "Aida." Beyond that. . well, she'll have to get her kids from the sitter, and it's a weeknight and we both have to work the next day, so. . . that'll probably be it. It's still gonna be a lot of fun though.

My work is having a food special today, and included is Champagne Chicken and Shrimp, my absolute favorite thing we make, but it's a November/December special, which is 9 long months away. I'll be enjoying my SA day, with a nice, creamy, delicious, champagne sauce.
It won't quite clear my somewhat saddened mood on a day where most people are either elated or depressed (though it might offset the foot of snow we just got), but it'll make a nice dent.
PS. People with significant others should totally not be allowed in this thread. It's bad enough we singles have to have salt poured in our wounds (Which is why today should be called Sodium Chloride Day, and not Valentine's Day) for a whole day, but it's even worse with you happy, bubbly, flower buying fools in love rubbing it in as well.

I love Valentines because it reminds me how much money I'm saving by not having to feed it to the relationship monster.

The "relationship monster" bought me a 1GB memory card for my phone.
See, Valentine's has it's upside too.
Mind you if Mrs_Maven saw herself described as the "relationship monster" it'd take more than 1 doz. red roses and a box of chocs to fix that one...

It sucks because I did have plans for today. But then my first love had to go and break my heart a second time in January, so goodbye plans.
At the same time, I'm recovering and had a personal revelation about our relationship and how good it feels not to deal with his angry, lecturing self anymore.
I wore my favorite black shirt today (and got comments from classmates) and then I'm hitting the Pub tonight for drinks. The singles in our theatre department went all out. I haven't seen them yet but there's rumors of punk-rock makeup, entirely black wardrobes, and "fake" slit wrists. Its pretty wild where they'll take a simple idea like "wear black in singles solidarity."

Yay! Best day ever! Not only is it Valentine's Day, but my girlfriend and I broke up two weeks ago and our two year anniversary would have been tomorrow! Oh happy day!

Today, I wish I were emo...

Well, no, not really. But more than that I was trying to be funny. I really gotta stop doing that.

Prior to this year, I don't think I had heard it referred to as Singles' Awareness Day. I guess it fits. Somehow the cold is keeping me from getting depressed this SAD, because most of my concern is with keeping myself warm. *shivers*

I am not nearly as down today as I thought I would be. I had planned to buy a bottle of wine, and get drunk and bitter by myself tonight, but for some reason I just am not that depressed.
I'm probably still buying the bottle of wine, though. I'll just think happy thoughts instead.

excellent, and I'll borrow my brother's pair of 12-year-old-girl-jeans! Now no one will be confused about why I'm wearing black eye-liner.

I got sick and went home early from school. I couldn't give my girlfriend the pie I baked (Valentine's day coincides with our pi-th month anniversary).
My then girlfriend was not amused...but some of my single friends were. This year I was actually single, but didn't really mind because I had to work 13 hours. Nothing like work to keep you distracted.
