Thanks. Unfortunately, I am more confused, not less.

However, I expect that's good for me. [Wink]

I like her, she isnt a bad character its just there is a little something satisfying to seeing her die since our preferred ship is her with Eli and seeing her with the other guy is kinda annoying.

Chloe seems to be that character that just can't quite keep it together. I recognize that that's important in things like horror movies and suspense movies.

I suppose my two issues with her are: 1. You need a strong character to offset hers. She's a foil to the protagonist to show how vital it is that they get things right. So far, neither Young or Rush are that guy. 2. I'm still thinking of this as a Stargate show which has no room for folks flipping out. These are the best special ops, diplomats, and scientists the planet has to offer. Whatever's going on, they can handle it.

When I'm able to place SGU in a near by, Stargate influenced universe in my personal continuity, I think I'll be much happier. If they can keep up the horror tone, that would help me a lot. It'd be like they stepped into the mirror and went to a horror universe where half the cast gets eaten in the dark instead of the action universe where everyone's cool.

Never quite thought of it that way, but you may have something there!

I know it irks my fiancé that she seems to shift back and forth between Scott and Eli (but only ever teasing Eli) and just seems very flighty in that department. He, uh, has called her some not so flattering names as we've watched the show. *zips lips*

She doesn't annoy me quite so much, but that doesn't take me so far that I can say I like her. I do, however, really like TJ. Then again, I do usually feel an instant kinship with blondes who aren't necessarily air heads... [Wink]

If it helps, they are even in the shows continuity, the second best. Or in their parlance, the wrong people in the wrong place.

Oh yeah, Chloe's got nothing on TJ.

And Chloe's annoying in the same way as the girl who was always friends with you and always cried on your shoulder, but jumped from (other) guy to (other) guy. And who, if you tell her the way you feel about her will say "she had no idea, but could we still be friends?". So in honor of all the guys who've been there, I'm annoyed with Chloe. [Razz] I'm also annoyed with the show giving us such an easy character to be annoyed with; it's not supposed to be a teen drama! Or is it?!

Just got a chance to watch it. Didn't want to be too far behind before tonight's episode. I thought it was pretty good. Tonight's looks pretty interesting. We should be able to see some of the fallout from Telford's earthside actions.

Amazon marked Stargate SG-1 down even further. It's about $110 for the series dvd collection. Quite a steal at $11 a season.

Drat... Region 1 DVDs only.

Not sure what to think about tonight's episode... It's even more drama, which I don't really mind but I saw "Grey's Anatomy" yesterday... [Razz] At least I got a song out of it: Flogging Mlolly - The Worst Day Since Yesterday. [Big Grin]

I was very happy to hear Flogging Molly on network television, I would suggest that anyone who liked that song listen to Float, or if you just like acordians, drinking, and generally thing Irish look them up.

This episode was very drama heavy, especially when viewed against last week, but it is admirable that they will not simply do some Quantam Leap generalization of episode to episode. Have the single episode stories but make the greater theme be common and constantly progressing, I find it vexxing when a show has a predictable formula and SGU seems to be thinking farther than one episode at a time.

I'll toss my hat in "anti Chloe" party, mainly because Eli is in the friend zone while Scott apparently has all the tail the ship can offer looking at him. Does anyone know who Grier was with? because it almost looked like the egg-head lady who started babbling in science talk to the kino and made me get all googly-eyed a couple of episodes ago. Otherwise known as Jennifer Spence.

She was with a different guy in the beginning, as seen in the little musical montage. And when he said "hi" to her shortly after we saw that scene, she ignored him. And THEN she was with Grier at the end. Apparently, she's got one (or several) up on Chloe in that department.

Interesting.

I didn't really think he'd leave him there, I wasn't totally surprised when he did. If it had been a random planet it would have surprised me, cause, you know, how does he get back from that? But look, a ready-made ship! All he has to do is fix-er up, chase down Destiny, and bob's your uncle, we're back in business. Really takes the magic out of the shock of having him be left behind actually.

But it'll still be neat to watch the fallout when he returns. Rush tried to sabotage Young a bit, but Young basically committed attempted murder. The irony of course, is that Rush framed Young for a mercy killing, predicated on the theory that he did it for the sake of the ship, and Young then proceeds to kill Rush probably using the exact same logic. Wheels within wheels!

It probably seemed like a pretty decent idea at the time. He's never trusted Rush, but he thought he was extremely useful. He was willing to abide him so long as he could be kept on something of a leash, but he organized a plot specifically to get Young removed from power, which resulted in one of the scientists being catastrophically injured.

I'm not surprised Young snapped. But I also don't see how they could ever be on the same ship together after that.

I wonder if the ending was implying that Eli knew that Young had done something to Rush. It would seem somewhat out of character for him to go along with that, although I can see the incident with the chair causing him to avoid pressing Young too hard on his rather suspicious behavior.

I'm wondering what we'll learn when the scientist who sat in the chair wakes up. The chair is far too valuable as a plot device to have it just kill someone so Rush and Young can come to blows. I have to imagine it will actually impart knowledge.

I think everyone in the infirmary knows exactly what happened, and after all the lies Rush has made to "raise moral" and "so as not to worry them" no one is going to cry over him. But I do wonder who is going to head the science team? Eli is the de facto choice for us but there are supposed to be real proffessionals on board who should know alot more than him.

I thought it was pretty funny when Rush was inspecting the ship, kinda like a house cat sniffing at a visitors backpack.

Yeah, we will most certainly hear more about the chair.

As for Eli, he said "the file got corrupted in the transfer". I doubt it. Scott might know too.

Or, there's another possibility: the file did get corrupted and Young simply guessed that Rush was the one who framed him. And then Rush confirmed it. But in that case why did he ask Eli to copy the file, give it to him and delete it from his drive?!

For a series I've only sort of cared for now and then, this episode really surprised me. It's amazing what they did with a little conflict. [Smile]

Here's hoping after the break they can keep it up. That was a show I'd watch regularly.

The sort of shock to me: It seemed like Young, who we know has some frazzled strings (how he has been acting with his wife, for instance), but I really didn't think Young was capable of murder, merciful or otherwise. That was my reasoning for believing he had been framed. The shock is that he did basically end up doing what I didn't think him capable of at the beginning of the episode!

Hey, you guys remember several pages ago when I posted a link to a place where you could buy MP3s of what was more or less audio performances of SG1 episodes? They weren't actual episodes, it was like old 1950s radio performances with sound effects and a central narrator.

The one I linked to was "Shell Game" with Claudia Black as the main narrator and Michael Shanks as a guest star.

Well I forgot about it until yesterday, but I wanted to hear the whole thing before I bought it, so I checked Youtube. Sure enough, it was there. So you can listen to the whole thing here, and it's worth a listen. Claudia Black is an excellent narrator, and her and Shanks are hilarious together.

Also,

Gift of the Gods

Another show, this one narrated and performed by Michael Shanks, with a guest star or two, but with him doing most of the voices of the others. [Smile]

I'm only part of the way through it, but it's pretty neat. Not as funny as Claudia Black, but good! The story is good in general.

Alright, I just finished Gift of the Gods, and I have to say, it was surprisingly poignant, and well, GOOD. Honestly I think if it had been an episode done the exact same way, with the same voice over from Shanks, it probably would have been in my top ten of favorites.

The story is pure Stargate. But there's a layer beneath it that is touching, and goes a bit above and beyond the usual Stargate fare. Also, the interview at the end is neat. It's not funny, not really at all. It's a serious episode.

ETA: rivka, however, might feel one particular aspect of it amusing though.

ETA II: All of the audiobooks have a short interview at the end of them. The one for Shell Game is missing, but I've looked elsewhere and it does have an interview with Claudia Black. She talks in it briefly about the scene in "Unending" where Daniel lays into her. She said that it had to be that way. Daniel had to say something that would finally crack her shield of BS and get to the real her, and when he realized he actually had, then they finally had a real moment together.

I'm not entirely sure which part I especially was supposed to find amusing, although I have a guess.

(One other problem with an audiobook: no way to see Sam's hair!)

No, but I would like to put out a suggestion:

I to got moved to Area 54, which is beyond Area 51, 52 and even Area 53.

Its actually on the strip in Vegas disguised as the newest casino. It turns a nice profit for the SGC. Carter's thrice a day floor show is particularly impressive, and much better than the McCoy Family Sing-A-Long.

It's still in the harbor. Cloaked. That's what the showrunners have said when asked.

No more info is likely until the movie, which won't happen until MGM gets out of the hole.
