Well, I tried a new tactic today. After two attempts, I think I'm giving up on not getting the resurrect-guy, grabbing some expendable people from Rebnard's castle, and trying to just blow your way through to the Crystal Castle to pick up the best characters, so you can level them with all eight gods. It might work if you did get the resurrect-guy, but you really need that shielding. Sooner or later you will run into a party with four zorlims, and they will blast your leader.
It's too bad that getting the resurrect-guy is such a dominant strategy. It really cuts down on your options. Ah well, game design was in its infancy.

Omigod, that's what they were jabbering about. I heard someone talking about this on the train this morning, and had no clue whether it was a movie or what.
