I woke up in the early morning from a scary nightmare. It had classic nightmare elements -- evading a murderer who had killed before and will kill again. Running, hiding, being discovered, fighting back -- a regular action flick, right in my head. At one point, I was caught in a hammock-y net, with my arms pinned to my sides, and a rope tightening around my neck.
(I maneuvered the dream to a safe ending, however, with the murderer being taken away in a straight jacket by burly policemen)
Anyway, I awoke all agitated, heart beating, throat tight, breathing hard. And itchy. I went to the bathroom to splash water on my face, and discovered that I had hives in a lattice pattern on both upper arms, in bands around both wrists, and across the front of my neck. Like pressure urticaria, but not from actual pressure, from the imagined binding in my dream. Weird, no?
My husband swears he was in the room all night and that I definitely was NOT abducted by aliens, but those aliens are clever, and I'm not sure if I fully believe him.
Some Excedrin, coffee, and antihistamine later, I'm fine. But still slightly weirded out when I think about it.
