I think it's supposed to be made of any matter of things, including mercury or virgin's milk. Depends on your version.

Hahaha. I was going to say that nowadays when I hear "Philosopher's Stone" I don't think Harry Potter, but Fullmetal Alchemist. I adore FMA. So, so much.

And yes, sulfuric acid is dangerous to humans.

I've not watched that show. I've heard its really good. The video game wasn't very good. But I didn't play the completed version. I played the Wal-Mart demo version.

I read the title as Philosphorus stone. Are you sure you're talking about sulfur?

BTW, Sulfur is liquid between 239 °F and 832 °F. So I wouldn't drink it.

Mine was always:

Alas for poor old Johnny
We'll ne'er see Johnny more
for what he thought was H20
Was H2SO4

I think I've gotta go through that site and see how many characteristics I'm guilty of.

But being a combustion guy I often refer to water as "burnt hydrogen" instead of H2O

And I teach my students yet another version:

Johnny was a good little boy.
But Johnny is no more.
For what Johnny thought was H2O
Was H2SO4.

That's how my dad taught it to me.

And I also teach them the sequel I found online a few years ago:

Johnny's father, an MD,
Gave him CaCO3.
Now he's neutralized, it's true.
But he's filled with CO2.

The first works well while learning how to name acids, and the second when discussing predicting products.

The version I heard was:

Here lie the bones of Sir Johnny Jones,
Whose life we know no more,
For what he thought was H20
Was H2SO4.

Another old favorite of mine:

A mosquito cried out in pain,
"A chemist has poisoned my brain!"
The cause of his sorrow
Was para-dichloro-
Diphenyltrichloroethane.

[Big Grin] Yeah, I remember that one fondly. But my HS students don't get to naming organics, so I'll spare them that one. [Wink]

The version that I'm familiar with is this:

Victor was a chemist
But Victor is no more
For what he thought was H2O
Was H2SO4

There is a human made Philosopher stone already, by that doctor. its a weaker version than the real thing. i dont think Sulfur was anyting to do with it actually.

And NO, FMA has nothing to do with Full Metal Panic.

After you guys watch the series, there is also a movie out for FMA which picks up where the series left off.

I like to think of the Moonstone from "Wolf's Rain", the precious frozen mass of time that the Nobles use to force open the gates of Paradise, as the Philosopher Stone. The Nobles are always called the supreme alchemists.

Long live Lady Jaguara, Lord Darcia, and Lord Orkham!

Well, to me the Red Water seems to have held the same properties of Sulfuric acid.

Aside from that I'm at episode 27.
