I've heard some dubious things about the script, and I feel like it has an "EVERY MUTANT EVAR!!!!" feel to it, but this is an impressive teaser.

I love the intense background beats. Gave me chills. And I can't say how much I love Patrick Stewart as Xavier.
I'm most excited to see the Beast. But I'm still alittle upset that Alan Cumming never appreciated his role as Nightcrawler and thus, by having his contract cut, removed the character from future movies. He's my absolute favorite X-Men and I'm sad to see him go (especially since the makeup and effects were so perfectly done for the character.) But having "Frasier" as the Beast almost makes up for it (though the Beast looks alittle short to me.)

Anyone know where I can download the update I apparently need from Quicktime to make this thing play on my computer?

One the one hand, I'm disappointed that Nightcrawler is gone, and even more disappointed that the director who had such vision with the first two films is not doing this one.
On the other hand . . . Kelsey Grammer and Patrick Stewart in the same movie? Heck yeah! I'd go even if it weren't an X-Men movie, just to see those two interact. That alone will be worth the ticket price.

No Nightcrawler? he was my absolute favorite part of the last movie... I don't think I want to see this, now.

OK, that date is marked in red on my calendar.... I'll miss Nightcrawler dearly, but this looks to be worth watching once or thrice

Meg, I have a pretty fast connection (Well, faster than 56k) and it didn't appear to be working for a long time - took a long time to see progress.

Why does the lack of Alan Cumming mean the absence of Nightcrawler?
I loved his performance, but get another actor. More than anyone there his replacement would be minimized due to the makeup.

Did you see a trailer somewhere else, AoD? Cause, if so, could you like it? Cause the linked one above is still not working for me.

Yeah, I'm disappointed by the loss of Nightcrawler too, but c'mon, it could've been SO much worse, I'm suprised, and incredibly happy that THIS much of the original cast has stayed together, expecially when the movie they're making is X-men. Hell, I was scared that there wouldn't even BE a third movie. Even after the major sucess of the second one, it seemed it would be impossible to keep up the all-star cast in place.
But now, it's being made, and the 26th of May can't get here too soon.
P.S. Anyone else think Patrick Stewart needs to be in more movies? Or SOMETHING? I think he seems so well suited for so many roles.

And... I may not be an expert on the Xmen history but... it shows on the trailer Jean Grey walking with Magneto and his big bullies... I don't think she turned bad in the comics.... did she?

^^^I think she spent some time evil as Phoenix. Or something. Phoenix was pretty annoying to me, to be honest.
Problems: 1. No Brian Singer. When Singer opted to do a new Superman for WB and then X-men 3 later, Fox took this as a betrayal, and moved on without him. There was a lot of controversy because they wanted to cut Marsden (Cyclops) from the film as well, because he will also be starring in Superman Returns. I get the impression that they hurried this movie. A lot. Instead, they went with Brett "Rush Hour" Ratner, replacing the previous director (Matthew Vaughn) three months before shooting started. He's managed to make 1 decent movie, Red Dragon, but he doesn't have Singer's winning streak.
2. EVERY MUTANT EVAR!!!11!1 Judging by imdb.com, pretty much every mutant in the history of X-Men is in this movie, from Omega Red, to Juggernaut, to Emma Frost, to Callipso (who?). Being that this was already a threatening problem with the characters introduced in X2, I'm not sure if we can handle this.
3. Plot things. Phoenix? Curing mutants? War between X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants? How are they going to fit all this in? Suffice to say that I've heard (HEARD!!! Don't KNOW) that there will be some major characters dying of some pretty minor things. Very Wolverine-heavy, to say the least.
Cool teaser though. But I have my doubts.

If anyone got the broker QT sign, you need the newer version of QT, that's what I needed to download in order to get it to play.
I dislike the Wolverine focus. I don't mind a Wolverine movie, heck, they could each have their own movie from the amount of backstory there is. But they've managed to screw up a lot of his history and past enemies over the course of the last two movies. Sabertooth and Lady Deathstrike were supposed to be old friends and then enemies of his, whereas in the movies he'd never known them.
Which means they will focus on the Canadian X project thing. Omega Red being in this movie really bothers me if they aren't going to do all the back story that goes along with it. I've forgiven them for mixing and matching up to this point, but I'm going to get very angry if they just rape the comics for characters to randomly toss into the movie!

I'm hoping they don't do any backstory at all. I thought the way Marvel focused so heavily on Wolverine for a decade and then revealed his origin took a lot away from the mystique of the character for me (I didn't read the origin mini-series for that reason).

I think they should have left off the Phoenix thing all together and just left Jean alive. It isn't necessary to have her be the Phoenix considering it has almost nothing to do with the direction they are taking this movie.
Any hope I had about this being more about plot and character development over flashy lights and special effects has officially been destroyed.
