katharina Gender: female Color: um...green, red, cobalt/gold/black combinations No allergies I live in Texas, so I don't use coats and scarves very often, but I love stuff that's unique to whereever the sender is from. It's like traveling without all the packing.

Dan Gender: yes. (OK male) Color: Blue, especially when I hold my breath. Allergies: none.
What do I want?
Books (I'm addicted) Music Movies but please, all of the above should reflect what you think is good. I have what I think I like, but to find out what you like, and to learn to like it to, that is a present beyond the mere thing.
and Local Color--you can send me something about where you live.
Crafts, from poetry to hand knitted socks, as long as it has your heart in it, I'll love it.

Gender-female Colors- Purple, some dark pinks Allergies- I react badly to pretty scented bath products and perfumes (candles too), not quite an allergy, but not good.
I love girly things, horses, music of almost any kind (it'd be hard to get me to really like country), and yarn, seriously give me a few balls of pretty yarn and I'll be your friend forever. Oh good chocolate is nice too.

Tante Shvester (Esther) Female I like the color black, but not to exclusion of other colors. I prefer gifts that are not food, since I keep a kosher diet. I like things that are home made. I can never have enough baubles and jewels. I do not like inspirational plaques with sentimental doggerel. I am not a fan of the artwork of Thomas Kinkaide. But I don't mind things that have a campy sort of humor.
(and you got to know that for favorite color, I was tempted to answer "Blue. No, green! Aaaaagh!)

I have absolutely no idea what I want. I'm sorry to be so unhelpful! My RL friends are blacwolve, breyerchic, fugu, and all the rest of the Bloomington crowd, if you get stuck for ideas and need someone to ask. Posts: 7877 | Registered: Feb 2003

As others have said above, I'd love to have something local to the sender's area. Books are good, I like any kind of fiction. Music is also good, especially since I'm having to pretty much rebuild my collection from scratch. I like most kinds except country and rap; generally I prefer the weirder end of the rock/alternative spectrum, but my tastes are eclectic. Really I'm very easy to please, I'll probably be delighted with whatever I get Posts: 957 | Registered: Aug 2002

Amanda Female Color - I love green, blue, purple, black, red - I pretty much like every color, though I'm not fond of orange, pink, and brown. Allergies - I have a lot, but I ignore them so you can too.
About me: I like dark chocolate, cooking, music, sewing, computer games, movies, gardening (I live in Phoenix, AZ so gardening has a whole different meaning here from most places). I have 3 cats. I also like frogs.
Oh yeah, and I'm LDS too (so no coffee/tea/alcohol, though I like non-caffeinated herbal teas)

Name: Karl Male Color - Green on the earthy side of the color(Olive, Forest Green, Dark Green), but I really like all colors in the right context.
No allergies. No taboos.
I love home-made. I like art, crafts, movies, desk toys, gadgets, gardening, all kinds of food. I'm pretty easy to please.

I'm easy to please. But I'm not a frilly girly-girl. I'm more of a "hardware store" person than a "boutique" person On the masculine side of women, I guess.
edit: I do also collect "Americana" type art. (prints, puzzles, whatever).

Name: Carrie. Gender: Female Favourite Colour: Not pink. I do like dark green, but all but pink are cool. Allergies: None - anything goes!
About me: I'm also going to parrot the "Local stuff is cool" idea. Especially local music, provided it's not country. I like books a lot, I love movies, I also knit, I play computer games... I hate to repeat everyone else, but I, too, am very easy to please. (Oh, but if it's chocolate, it's white chocolate. )

Name: Rebecca Gender: My sex is female, but don't buy me anything because of that. Like Farmgirl, I'm more on the masculine side of female and I really don't like girly stuff. Colors: Blue!!, Green, Black. I hate all "girly" colors, especially pink. Allergies: None, but I'm a vegetarian and I don't like nuts in my chocolate unless it's peanut M&M's. Oh. I HATE anything Hazelnut flavored with a firey passion (which is why I hate nutella). And I don't eat cheese.
About me: I love sci-fi stuff, I'm always looking for a good sci-fi book that I haven't read (and I haven't read a lot), I love music, especially stuff that isn't mainstream, except for rap and country. I loooove dark chocolate with a passion. Don't do anything with perfume, body lotion, etc, though incense or scented oils for burning are cool. I've always wanted a nice incense burner. And "local stuff is cool" for me as well.
I'm going to second Tante on this: I do not like inspirational plaques with sentimental doggerel.
I think that's long enough....

Name: Anne Gender: Female Favorite color: green, followed by blue and purple. I'm not a fan of pink either. Allergies: Hazelnuts (and I don't like most other nuts), coconut in more than very small amounts (actually an intolerance), rubbing alcohol (although I don't think that's relevant), roses and several other flowers, dogs, rabbits (meaning their fur), grass (again, not relevant, but...), and I'm Mormon, so no coffee, tea, or alcohol products. Oh, I'm also mildly allergic to beeswax and honey and have ultra-sensitive skin.
About me: I like cats, have two. I get cold even in SoCal, so love hats, scarves, gloves, etc. I'm pregnant and have a 19-month-old (who will participate separately.) I sing. I like Star Wars (but the classic three most), but not Star Trek. I love ketchup (Heinz, of course.) I like south Asian and Indian looking prints, fabrics, cards, etc. I sew when my machine is working and unpacked and stuff. I'm very into my Irish heritage. I love bluegrass, Celtic folk music, and traditional American music (other music too, but that's my favorite.) I'm a bibliophile. I do calligraphy. I love to cook. I don't look good in orange, most yellow, or some reds, but look very good in deep, rich browns, navy blue (and blue in general), green, and pastels (though I don't wear as much of them.) Um, I'm running out of "about me". Read my posts.

Name: Emma Rose Gender: Female Favorite color: red, royal blue, pink, orange, anything bright and cheery. But Mama's not fond of pink. Allergies: skin reaction to zinc. No nuts or nut products (trace okay.)
About me: I am 19 months old (will be 21 months by the beginning of Jan.) I like kitties, duckies, woof-woofs, and pretending to be a bear. I like to color and sing and dance. I especially like music with fiddles, bagpipes, or guitars. I like to play the kazoo (my grandpa taught me how!) I like chocolate, but they feed me enough of that around here (my mommy made me say that.) I love books, but not with too many words. I pull things out of my hair if people try to put them in. I like to help cook and clean. My favorite pastimes are eating, chasing the kitties, hiding things, and following Abba everywhere.

Yes, and some lotions. I just have sensitive skin in general-- I should have mentioned I can't use soap, only Dove, and many lotions and bubble baths are right out.
Emma can't use bath products, either. Eczema and severe dry skin, and she has to use dandruff shampoo for her cradle cap, which still comes back otherwise.

I missed school in Kindergarten for what we later found out was a rash caused by strawberry bubble bath. After that I've only used ones made by Johnson and Johnson, but I really don't even have that sensitive of skin.

I'm not going to list any of my interests because I totally want to be surprised. I get so excited just to get mail that I know I'll love whatever comes with it.
I had fun being a sleuth last year. I didn't know ANYTHING about Boris and I had to hunt down his livejournal and read old threads where he had posted. Made for fun decisions and gift-giving. That's the best part.

but really, this isn't about getting what we "want" -- it's about getting something cool thought up by someone we don't know very well. So, yeah.

I love books and crafts. If I had to choose my own gift from someone, I'd send me their favorite book from when they were 12. Or something homemade. mmm...chocolate... Or something unique to their area. Or...I dunno, a funny picture they drew, or something off their shelf they love, or some pretty bits of string, or some shiny little junk trinkets...

Goody/Jenn Female Allergies: perfumes and strongly scented lotions Colors: jewel tones, especially purple and blue Drink tea but not coffee
Lesseee... I'm a cross stitcher (and I just started the Unicorn out of the Teresa Wentzler book I got last year from Ludosti!!), I read a lot of sci-fi, fantasy and horror, my favorite music is "classic" rock (Yes, Zep, Doors, Who, Doobies, Bowie, etc.), I have two daughters aged 12 and 8, and I just adopted two kittens who are currently about 9 weeks old. Oh, and I like to bake - when I get time, that is
Color: Green and pink. Don't like this season's colors, as I look best in jewel tones and they are all washed out this year, except for the tanzanite blue that's out. It's very pretty.
Allergies: cats, rabbits, and ferrets. Can't wear angora, but seem do do fine with cashmere. When I can afford it. Which isn't often.
I would love any papercraft supplies, as I'm a stamper and can always use pretty papers. Stickers are great. I like Christian rock and most country music. I like things from local areas, so something from whereever you are would be fun. Beloved cookbooks are always well received, especially as I'm not a great cook but love to eat tasty food.

I am a music major so I always like more music. I like most things besides country. I like to read. I need more posters for my dorm room. I need a good pair of mittens (not gloves) for my month in Indiana this winter. I am really not too picky. I like seeing what other people pick out.

Aren't mittens the best? They're so much better than gloves, IMO. My favorite mitten experience, though, is when they kept me from getting killed.
I was driving to work and a big hairy guy cut me off. I threw up my hand to flip him off and started laughing when I realized I was wearing mittens.
Who knows what Big Hairy Guy would have done if I'd been successful? Those mittens might have saved my life. Posts: 5948 | Registered: Jun 2001

Ken: Gender -- guy Colors -- no faves Allergies -- none, but no perfume-y/cologne-y stuff
I REALLY like random stuff, and handmade stuff is definitely cool; I'm incredibly musically naive, so that's a good possibility (no rap though, and no country unless it's twangy Dixie Chicks type stuff); dark chocolate will be sucked up and consumed within minutes; SF is good; I like comics, but am pretty opinionated about them and already have a lot, so they're not a good bet.

Anna Gender : female Color : red! Allergies : officially none, I reacted badly to white chocolate once but it never happened again. I love books, and I love to read in English. But anything from Terry Pratchett or Robin Hobb would be risky, because I already have a lot of books from them. I also have the entire Calvin and Hobbes collection, and Harry Potter book 1 to 6. I really like mugs with pretty designs on it. I also like cocoa-based drinks (like the yummy ones I tried in Australia, I think it was hazelnut-cocoa). I like earings too, but then it would probably be hard to respect the limit No alcohol for me please, I don't really appreciate it. Home-made is cool, but not an obligation. And you can always mail anonymiously to know anything else. (adress in profile, I think)

I'm going to get on the "something local or home made" bandwagon. I love chocolate, especially dark chocolate, am open to new music (although if it's country I'm probably not going to care for it), and am open to books I haven't read, especially local history from wherever you're from.
