I am Shvesterson, son of Tante Shvester. I am 14 years old and will be entering high school in September. My hobbies include writing poetry, performing magic, and clowning acts (i do birthday parties for children) But enough about me, I want to know what others think of my mom (i.e. is she cool or hopelessly lame, funny and interesting, or dull and boring...) Tell me what you think.

Hm. She doesn't actually meet my definition of "cool," but she's certainly pleasant, intelligent, and occasionally amusing. She's the kind of person I would gladly have over for coffee, but not the kind of person I would ask for new music recommendations.

I am amazed to find out my mom is cool. Perhaps i am seeing a side of her that she does not show around the house.

It doesn't matter what we think. It matters that you respect her, and are a good, obedient son who will bring his mother honor and flowers on her birthday.
That would make you immensely, outrageously, fantasmagorariphically cool.
And it'd make her feel good, and then you'd notice she's a lot cooler.
You see, I've been telling my kid for years that I'm cool, and that the young people love me because I'm hip to their scene. You know the ? He's got that one down pat.
Tom, you are in the minority opinion about my coolness factor, but I've got to admit, you've got a point there. My favorite music is so out of style that they don't even have a radio station that plays it. I like folk music. And my favorite song is "Dueling Banjos". A close second is the theme song to "The Good The Bad and The Ugly" (whistle whistle-oo mwah MWAH mwah katsheee katakatatsheeee)
But let me say that being in the minority does not make you incorrect. I almost always hold the minority opinion, and I'm almost never wrong.
It's hard to see someone as cool when they're telling you to mow the yard.
And to everyone else who posted and thinks that I am cool. This is an instance where the majority opinion is the correct one.

I translated the term "עַמּוּד תָּוֶךְ" into English. The New Tide of Hatrack (in other words: its recent character) is held up as a monument because you are the pillar of it. You are the Pillar of the New Tide!

Oh, and to make sure we do not complete a page on topic, Hey to a fellow clown.
Both my wife and I are clowns, but practice the art very rarily these days.
I have a friend who started doing birthday shows as a kid. He owned his own entertainment company and made quite a good living at it--until he sold it for big bucks and went to work for his dad. He hasn't been happy since.
Keep up the good smiles.

I forgot to say welcome to Son of Shvester. Welcome to Hatrack!
How did you learn magic? I've always wanted to learn to do a faro shuffle (aka perfect shuffle), but I fear I'm too clumsy.

Shvesterson, son of Tante Shvester, I regret to inform you that your mother has a grave addiction.
She is on this forum day and night, rarely taking time to eat, breathe or use the potty. She seems to be living a life of extremes.
It is my suggestion that you get her professional help as soon as possible, before you lose her forever to this cyber world. Going cold turkey could be dangerous, both for her and for you (handling her reaction), however, I can teach you a few things about disabling a computer to make it more difficult for her to get her daily fix.

But Shvester is popular on a forum of mainly late-teens and adults; of intelligent and superintelligent; of Jatraqueros and Jatraqueras.

If you keep trying to corrupt my little angel, I'll have to retaliate by convicting him on some trumped-up charges and sentencing him to being grounded from the internet.
(More time on the PC for me! I love being a Mom!)

I work full time. I'm a Nursing Supervisor. I also take care of a very disabled husband when I'm not at work (he has private duty nurses taking care of him part of the time). I also drive the kid around to where he needs to go (but he's a terrific kid, and this is his virgin thread, so no griping about that). I do all the shopping for the family, all the cooking, all the cleaning (well, honestly, all the cleaning that gets done is done by me. Much of it doesn't get done).
If I were a woman of leisure, I'd be able to be on Hatrack more and my post count would be much more impressive. I just fit it in the cracks of the day.
I could quit anytime I want. Really. I could quit right now and make this my last post if I wanted to.

OK, I was just gonna lurk in this thread, but that just threw you clean over the top of MY coolness indicator. I mean, that's about the most perfect textual representation of that tune possible. (That probably says more about my own coolness, which doesn't appear to meet TomD's requirements, either. )

And Choobak himself is no less cooler, though that's not why we love him.

As long as you don't listen to or watch Jeepers Creepers - and I can understand Tom's opinion. Tante, say - where'd you get those eyes?

But, how do you know she isn't actually cool, and you just can't see it, cause you're her 15-year-old son?
