I have a large file, ~600 MB. I want to give it to a friend across the country. Is there a better way to do this than by burning it to a CD and snail-mailing it to him?
I've heard that there is some service that will let you upload the file to a server, send your friend a link to it do download it, and then it is removed automatically in 24 hours. Has anybody else heard of this?

It will likely take a long time to upload. Downloads go faster, usually. And the link is good for ten days or 25 downloads, I believe.

I haven't heard of that service, but yes, FTP would have been my suggestion. Load it to your own site, give your friend your password to get in via FTP so he can download it, and then if you feel the need, change your password.

Actually, mailing it would probably faster than trying to send it via the internet, depending . . .

Has anyone ever tried or heard of Soulseek? I had a friend that told me to try it for a problem like this. Seems a little too Napsterish for me to feel totally comfortable with it, and I hate downloading things when I can't tell what manner of spyware might be bundled with it. But like I said, my friend loves it, and I haven't ever tried it, so I don't know for sure.
Anyone know anything about it?

Is it just you and a friend, or does everyone with the program get to get their grubby hands all over your files, Napster-style? Any security issues that you know of?
Thanks for the info, by the way.
