[Addit: June 26th at LadyDove's! Page down for details. ]
. . . only I'm not entirely sure where and when.
I was just thinking that it's been far too long since I've seen y'all -- some of you in particular. It would be great if we could get together at least once this summer, neh?
My preference would be a Sunday in July. The 3rd would work for me, but I realize most people will be doing extended-family things for the 4th. July 10th and 17th are both also good. The 24th is not; the 31st is ok, but not great. August starts getting busy, since there's a good chance I'll be moving sometime about then.
As far as location, I can host it here (my parents' house) if it's in July. I am also entirely open to other places -- including San Diego or thereabouts, which may currently be fairly central, I think.

We have plans the 3rd (it's my dad's birthday), and I'll be in Uganda or in transit to/from it on the 17th, 24th, and 31st. So yeah, July 10th kinda sounds like the best option for me. Can't guarantee presence at this point, though -- I'm genetically predisposed to putting off scheduling things more than two days away unless they cost a lot of money.
No, you shouldn't charge me to attend, 'cause then the answer is more likely no.

Bekenn? Maybe alluvion, if he promises to behave? Socal_chic? Maybe littlemissattitude could make the drive? I recall someone new mentioning being from around Lake Elsinore?

You know, I am going to be sad whenever I see one of these from now on.
But there are even more mid-western hatrackers (though perhaps more spread out), so I'll probably be okay .

Also -- realistically I may have too much planning/preparation stuff for my trip to make it to L.A. for a Shinda. I feel bad about that, but there are just things I'm probably going to be needing to do. So don't plan around me unless you're already prepared for possible disappointment.

Since that's the last Sunday before my trip, the church will likely have some sort of sendoff/prayer thing, probably as part of the regular service. We'd be more likely to be able to show after 2:00-2:30ish. Locale won't really make a difference. If we can't be there, it'd probably be because the whole day is shot, and my back yard wouldn't be local enough for us.
I'll admit, though, that if the water slide were running at LadyDove's, that'd be awfully cool for Mooselet, and might push us over the edge if we were teetering. Still making no promises -- just sayin'.

I have consulted the calendar again. June 26th could also work for me, if that's any better for people.

June 26th would be (tenatively) better for me. July 10th is probably when we'll be doing my birthday stuff.

June 10th could be problematic; I need to find out if my roleplaying group is moving the Star Wars campaign to Saturdays or keeping it on Fridays....
26th would depend on precisely when, early afternoon being best for me.
'Course, I'm not real active here anyway, so please feel no obligation to schedule to my convenience.

We have a party on June 25th, Paul's annual Summer Solstice party. Everyone is welcome and there'll be a 3 piece jam going.
Since the slide will be up and running for the 25th, I don't see a problem extending the party to the 26th for my Hatrack crew. I'm a little rusty when it comes to the party mode, but I'd love to see you guys.

Sounds like fun. However, I won't know until closer to the time of the shinda whether or not we'll be able to get down that way. Sure would be nice. I'll keep watching this space and see how things go at my end here, with an eye toward maybe trying to get there.

So shall we make next Shinda June 26th at my place? If so, let's start at about 1PM. If anyone needs directions, please post a request and I'll email them to you.
I'd be really happy to meet you, Shan and ketchupqueen/princess.
alluvian and everyone I don't know, I'm looking forward to meeting you too.

You are most gracious and kind, LadyDove! Alas, I will not be able to hop a train and escape to warmer climes this month. (Rats!)

Just a heads-up: Mooselet and Superstation have each thrown up twice this week. They don't appear to be sick in any other way. With Superstation, we think he swallowed pool water during his swim lessons and the chlorine caused him to throw up. We hoped the same for Mooselet, but he threw up a second time between lessons, so it might be something else. Too bad we were on "purple grape" in our juice rotation....
We'll feel uncomfortable attending with sick children. We hope to be there, but it's possible we won't be. *pout*

Pop, There's been a 24-48 hr bug going around. My kids are going to be exposed to 200-300 people on Saturday... most of whom I don't know. I'll trust your family's bugs over a stranger's anyday.
Besides that, I may have a mystery guest attending whom you'd like to see again......
No, you can torture me and I still won't tell you any more, except that I miss you guys.

Well, Mooselet threw up two more times yesterday, so we can't be sure. But a mystery guest? Intriguing. Also, Mooselet is incredibly excited about being there, seeing you, and riding the water slide. Maybe he'll even compose another verse to the Ladydove Song. Anyway, I really hope we can be there. Really.

We were there, and had a wonderful time. Ladydove was the ever-gracious hostess, despite the party from the night before going until 5 A.M. or so. Superstation seemed sad to go (mainly sad he couldn't go into the back yard again), and Mooselet was downright depressed when it was time for us to leave. When we got home, the first thing he asked was "When can we go to Ladydove's house again?"
Thank you for having us again, Ladydove. And thank you for bringing the cake, rivka -- tasty marzipan. Well, palatable marzipan, but tasty cake. Mike Jules & John, 'twas great seeing you all again, too. John (in case someone indicates you should read this), thank so much for treating Superstation to a waterslide ride. Even if he decided not to go back for a second try, it was clear he enjoyed the first one.
Wow, first hummus, now marzipan... What is it with you and foods I like?
I am so sad we weren't able to be out there for this. But then again, we're going to see Boon and the Boonites tomorrow. And we'll be out there soon, hopefully in time for the next shinda.
So, I guess things will be okay.

Well, maybe I will throw a shinda myself when we manage to find a place out there-- a housewarming of sorts.
I probably need to stop talking like we're 100% that this is going to work out. I'll probably jinx it, knowing my luck.
