I and my baby brother will be in Spain in October. I was supposed to go in August, but I won't have enough money by then, and that's the most expensive time to travel, so no deal. However, early October is a virtual certainty.
So, how about a meet? I am not sure about the distances over there - is Spain too far away? I know there are several French Hatrackers, and it looks like France is somewhere in the middle, so maybe we could have a day or two of something somewhere in France? Closer for Poland, closer for England if any of the English want to come, looks like it's closer to those snowy nations where I know there are several Hatrackers.
Any interest? October gives us lots of time to plan, but I don't know what y'all's schedule is like or how things work there. Still, a get-together! A chance for some Hatrackers to become real who have not yet done so! What do you think?

Oh man, I'd love to go! I've never been to Europe!
I'll just drool and get jealous over here. And casually check flight prices from Sri Lanka, and then get all testy when I see how high they are. And then I'll brood and turn all green.
I hope you have a great time!

I would love that ! I was afraid that- you would say this summer because we'll be in Australia, but October would be perfect, and Paris too ! I would so like to be real ! ! !

Oh, cool! I was hoping you could do it! I don't even know what to plan - can you tell me how far it is from Spain to France? How much time should I add? Any ideas about where we could meet? I haven't been to Paris since I was in high school.

I think you have between one and three hours by plane (i think it is around 1h30 from Paris to Madrid) and you may have around a little hour in train from airport and Paris.
(I must train my english speaking !!! )

Does it have to be October? Couldn't you make it... like... September? Then I wouldn't be in classes yet, and could possibly come! Unless it's the very beginning of October (last year we started class the 15th, I believe), and then I may still have a chance of making it... please!

Hmm...what if we had it before the trip with my brother? I could go to France first, and then meet my brother in Spain afterward. What would make it the end of September/beginning of October. Would that work? I would love to meet you, Raia!

At least, the time would work out. Now I just have to figure out a way to pay for it, but trips to Europe from Israel are usually pretty cheap. And my parents are good about that sort of thing.

Not to be picky, or anything, but if it's in France, can we make it Paris? I know people there, so I have a free place to stay, which makes travelling easier for the financially impaired Raia.

Sounds fabulously fun. With any luck, I'll crash the party with free Books of Mormon for everyone and an invitation to learn more.

Actually, last night I dreamed I was in Paris, and Choobak showed up with a portable chess set.
We were in the Metro, and Hobbes was there and I kept missing my stop at Abbesses, so we played chess all night. Too bad I'm really bad at chess. And Choobak was really hairy, but nice.

I need to find out when my October half-term break is. I can't take time off school, and I don't really want to do a day or weekend trip, but I have a week in mid/late Oct which will work. It would be great to meet more Hatrackers!

Are you serious, Raia? It would be fabulous if I could crash with someone while at Paris.
I had a whole "That sounds great!" reply typed to Choobak, and then I pictured the conversation where I told my brother, who would tell my dad, that while in Paris I was staying at the apartment of a romantic Frenchman that I had never met. Even in my head, the conversation did not go well. However, nice female college student would go over much better.
Absolutely no offense to Choobak - that would be nice. I just don't think I could without someone else with me.

Annie : Abbesses is near my chess club. It's very strange... And in reality, i was hairy, but currently not. I remember the time when i cut my very very long hair to let the place to a bright skull...
Raia, you have interesting friend...

She's been friends with my grandfather for ages... her husband, Bertrand, has a really interesting family background, and is where the money comes from. We stayed with them when we were in Paris two months ago. We slept in the library.

quote: Thanks, but I'd rather stay for free in my dad friend's seven-storey mansion on the Seine.
Ahem, could that - please - be my residence place? I know absolutely no one in Paris (my family's all in Australia, England, Saskatoon/Moosia, Israel, Italy and New York - to the best of my knowledge), I was nice to you after all, and I can discuss Baroque-period history with your father!
I have "Sukkot" holidays around that time (September-October), but I have no idea when it turns out in the Gregorian Calendar, exactly. So try to get it all done *AFTER* the holidays, when the serious part of out studies starts. OK?
