All I need it to do is clerical-type stuff--database/spreadsheets, word processing. I will eventually be getting a desktop that does everything but cook, but I need to do some cataloguing (however you spell it) of books, records, and movies that I hope to sell, so I want something mobile. Does anyone who has upgraded still have their old one or can someone give me suggestions on how to find a cheap, but decent, laptop? I'm a little leary of buying a computer off of ebay, so that will probably be a last resort, but any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Freakin' cheap. No, since I'm not looking for anything special, I don't see a need to spend more than $75 or $100.
