People find Mallard Fillmore funny enough to follow? I always figured that people just kind of rolled their eyes at it or else read it with smug satisfaction, but not any real sense of amusement. That said, it's great to see someone else trying to define terms in order to set up more easily-defeated straw men; we haven't had any of that in, I dunno, maybe two minutes.

It's vented frustration. Was probably fresh and entertaining the first time someone made those same points a couple decades ago

I fail to see any standard of humor any society has used anywhere which would make those fresh and entertaining.

I see no evidence of that from this or any of his other posts. He gave no opinion. Maybe he was trying to get a discussion going about how inane and baseless these strips are.
Or maybe you're right, but there's nothing to support that.

I'm curious -- are there any funny conservative political comic strips? I'm assuming that the only reason that Mallard Fillmore is on the comics page is to "balance" out Doonesbury, and that if something else that was actually funny was available, that Mallard Fillmore's cartoonist would soon be unemployed...

The current "...ignorant person with no resiliance, very few life- or job-skills, who nevertheless feels really good about myself..." is a perfect description of MallardFilmore's cartoonist. Which illustrates what was meant by "Well I was amused for reasons other than intended"
