My husband's flight was delayed more than three hours, he's missed his connection and will have to spend the night in Houston. So, instead of seeing him tonight for the first time in eight days, I get to wait at least another day.
And that's assuming they have room for him on one of the flights that leaves Houston for Bham tomorrow. He's traveling with a large group from our church and some teens from a Christian high school. They're supposed to be coming home from a week in Honduras helping build a medical clinic.
And it's been a long week and I was so looking forward to snuggling with him tonight. I hate sleeping alone.

Oh, Belle. When I was in the rehab hospital, I asked Steve to lie down with me for a minute(which was about all we had before someone came in) It felt so completely wonderful to feel his arms around me. I will remember that moment, always. He will be home soon!

Oh, it's so hard when you've gotten ready for his return. My love is away for a few days, and the bed is far too big and lonely.

I'm letting my son sleep in our bed while Chuck is gone to Army Guy School (*sob* six weeks! *sob*). I don't let him do it every night (I know it's a bad habit for him, because then he doesn't ever want to sleep in his own bed), but it's nice to have a warm body under the covers with me.
I also let the dogs sleep on the bed (on TOP of the covers!). Chuck's going to have to kick some butt when he gets home so he can have his bed back! Haha.
I understand, Belle. *sniffle for me and Belle*

I've been known to let a child sleep with me too. Just something about having that other warm presence next to you.
I got a phone call, but it wasn't from him. (I still haven't talked to him since he left last Friday, so I haven't even heard his voice in eight days.) It was from a relative of another stranded traveller who called to pass on the messsage that they still hadn't made it through customs (and the plane landed over an hour ago), they don't know if they'll make it to a hotel or not, and don't know what flight they'll be on tomorrow. As soon as Wes knows something, he'll call me.
It was nice to at least hear something, but...well, you guys understand. :sigh:
