I'm getting a bonus! I don't know how much yet, they're announcing the calculations tomorrow. But this means that between that and my tax return I will be completely debt free except for my mortgage and my dad's silly habit of paying for things and then taunting me with the recepits for months, plus have a nice chunk of change left over for a motorcycle downpayment!

WOO-HOO!

That's so awesome!!!!! That is the coolest motorcycle I have ever seen and you will look so incredibly hot tooling around on it.

You do have a pair of black leather pants, right?

I never ger bonuses in school.

Only bonus homework.

But hey, congrats! I can't think of a better one to deserve bonuses (except for Hatrackers, which are equally eligible and deserve them).

Hey!

Great Mental Picture:

ElJay on her bike, pulling a small trailer-carrier with it -- which encloses Bob N Dana, riding behind after their wedding reception, with decorations all over saying "Just Married"

(not sure Bob would fit in one of those, however, or that ElJay's type of bike would pull one)

Bonus? What is this bonus thing you refer to? As a government employee, I'm just happy to be reimbursed for my travel expenses within 3 months. [Frown]

Congrats, ElJay! Have fun with it.

Awesome mental picture Farmgirl, but I'm not sure Mr. Traffic Safety would approve. Helmets on the bride and groom in the cart totally wreck the mental image.

Mrs.M, not leather, not yet. I have a pair or, um, two of black vinyl pants, but those are not for riding bikes. I'll be getting some in the spring, no doubt.

adam613, isn't it fabulous? My bonus target is 13%, so depending on the calculation the bonus should be more than a normal paycheck as well.

(annual payrate * 13% * % to target company performance * % to target department performance * % to target personal performance = bonus, I think. They will announce the %s for company and department tomorrow, I will find out personal in my annual review, which is late.

Anyway, I'm stoked.

Awesome. (high five)

I have similar good news in that I got a raise recently, but I'm not sure if I'm good, because I missed a meeting yesterday... >_>;;

I love bonuses, but they take out WAY more taxes from a bonus than a regular paycheck. I think last year I was "given" a $500 bonus, but it was only about $250 actual take home when they took bonus-rate taxes out. (which is different that what they figure for your regular check)

I love many, many things about working for a non-profit, but one of the things that sucks is that as far as I know, no one gets bonuses. That does make sense - we don't make money, the goal is to break even. If a non-profit is making money, they are not fulfilling their mission as well as they could be. Still...*sigh*

Oh, we're not making money either. That's why I was surprised about the whole bonus thing. And why I suspect the company % will end up being pretty low, so I won't actually get anywhere near 13% of my annual salary.

I think they're justifying it as a talent retention thing, so we don't all get pissy and leave.

You have to ride it out to San Diego. After all these years of waiting for you to get one...

Oh, I forgot about raises. We find out about raises during that annual review thing, too. Hmmmm.

Nate, how about I fly out to San Diego and rent a bike? Riding to San Diego by myself doesn't sound like a good idea.
