The article says it’s left to own a gun. That’s against the tide for left and right in the US. Then also asks if it’s right wing to allow the killing of the innocent baby but not the killing of the guilty adult. Also opposite of US left and right. Neat article, but I’m not sure it gets what being left or right is in America.

It doesn't say that at all. It says that personal freedom is a key plank of the left, but that the right to own a gun, a key plank of the right, is an important personal freedom. The article's about contradictions. You missed it. Read the article.

ok, I guess I can see that in a way. Still don’t think it knows the difference between the left and right here though. It’s not that black and white.

Jay, that's the whole point of the article, that the designations "left wing" and "right wing" ARE black and white labels, but that the actuality is more subtle and contradictory, and cannot/should not be dumped into one of those categories.

Why do we pour so much effort into finding a nice label for everyone and everything?
Are you right wing or left wing?!? What an a$$inine question. That's like saying "On a scale of 1 or 10, with 1 being miserable and 10 being ecstatic, how do you feel every day?" The spectrum of positions between these two labels is so broad that a near-infite sub-set of "labels" can be extrapolated that still wouldn't cover everything...

I had a thread about that was partially about the how limited the single axis definition of political ideology is. It never got off the ground though, so I'm going to plug it here in the hopes that it's catch on like wildfire and the kids will want to buy lunchboxes with my face on them.

For crying out loud, it's not a question, it's the title of a thread, meant to start the discussion, about the very things you're complaining about! Did you even read the article, Human Target??

It didn't seem that way to me Miro, seemed more like he'd just read the thread title and jumped to the conclusion that it was a simplistic thoughtless question without unerstanding the point of the thread or article. If I jumped to the wrong conclusion, however, I withdraw and apologise

Sepheroth appears to be left wing , however, I think I need a more authentic photo to verify what wing he has.

Is it safe to venture forth here? I apologize for being misunderstood. I am agreeing with the article and mocking the post title.
