Bob and I are done with our pre-marital counseling! We expected at least three more sessions, but our counselor told us that since we’d already discussed just about everything that is normally covered in said sessions we might as well save ‘em and come back six months after the wedding. She thinks by then we’ll have issues.

Ah -- you won't need them in six months either! I mean -- that's what you have Hatrack for, isn't it? Everyone gets their advice HERE first! Farmgirl

Six months later... Dana: I just feel like I don't know Bob anymore... It's almost as if he's some sort of asexual yellow sponge!!

Bob: I can't stand it. At least once a week she starts preaching at me and everyone else in earshot.

This is totally not what I thought this thread was going to be about. Dana, is it somewhere else? If you don't brag it up, I'm gonna. Unless, of course, you tell me not to.

Nope. Her news, her call. If I cross the line, it gives her permission to do it later. Besides, I already got chided once for saying something prematurely here, I ain't doing it again. (Added: Not like this isn't just as bad, but ya know. I can only behave so much at a time.) [ February 15, 2005, 11:48 AM: Message edited by: ElJay ]

Now I didn't mean to imply this wasn't real news! Don't go putting words in my mouth. The more I think about this, the more I bet I'm in trouble already. Maybe I should edit out everything.

(It means she's going to be ordained. She's been a... they don't call it probationary, but I can't remember what the word is... minister for the last 5 years. Now she'll be official. So yeah, it's a big deal.)

If they got married in MN, I could perform the ceremony. I am a licensed officiant. But then I couldn't be the maid of honor, and heaven forbid I might get to pick my own outfit out. Besides, dkw wants to be married by a minister. Picky, picky.

I’ve been legal to officiate at weddings for five years now. (Think of this as like getting tenure.) When we got engaged the kids in the parish did a hilarious impersonation of me performing the ceremony – “Do you, Bob, take me, Dana” “you may now kiss . . . me!”

*giggle* Out of curiosity, would that be legal? (Both in terms of church policy and US law?) And if it is, could you also stand in as proxy for the groom? "Do I, Dana, acting for Bob, take me, Dana . . ." *dizzy*
