Yes, I know there are threads about it, but I can't find one that gives me a concise understanding of the whole shabang. I know it's going to take place in Chicago in August. Mr. Opera and I were thinking of coming, but is it fun for newbies too?
If you enjoy the people on Hatrack, my guess is that you'll probably enjoy the Kamacon as well. Especially if there are one or more people attending you feel you've connected with.
Basically, that's total guesswork on my part. I haven't met anyone from Hatrack face to face. There are a few nearby people I might meet between now and then, but for the most part it's a new experience for me as well.

sndrake, and you're picking me up at the airport. Heh.
Opera, there will be other children there, and CT has already volunteered to do a lot of kid-watching.
I think it was decided a while back to forgo an official program in favor of just getting to spend time with other Hatrackers. Expect a lot of talking, board games (Scrabble! ), and videos. There was also talk of going to the Art Institute.

I'm predicting that we'll be so much fun, random strangers will latch onto our group claiming to be lurkers.

Glad katie's the one sharing a bed with you, Kama. I like pillows under my head.
Opera, cool! The more the merrier. I'll go bump the thread with the hotel info. I need to make a reservation anyway. Although I probably can't do that on a holiday.
