I always call SVU "The Rape Show", because that's what it is. I don't know how anybody can stand watching it. It just pisses me off.

There was one episode of SVU that horrified me. They showed a rape on the subway and I was in shock for the night. It was very graphic. But the actors in it are great. *loves Ice-T on the show (he was in the movie too)*

There was a movie? I like SVU, partly because of Ice-T (it's just hilarious that he's on there, but he actually does a decent job in my opinion), but also because the characters seem a lot more real for some reason.
And I have a weird crush on Elliot.
My least favorite is Criminal Intent.

pearce, it was a made-for-tv movie and wasn't really all that great. It was made with the hard core fans (us) in mind. I think you can rent it too.

SVU has Munch, a character I remember fondly from his Homocide: Life On The Street days. Alas, the SVU Munch is not much like his old self from Homocide.
Of the choices, I'll take Homocide, thanks.

SVU is mostly intriguing, sometimes gross and awful. Really like the lady cop (don't know her name though). She's the best.

I love the regular Law and Order. With Sam Watterson. I have a sneaking suspicion that my desire to be a lawyer is born out of Law and Order, The Practice and John Grisham novels. I spent fifteen minutes trying to make contract law seem as interesting...
... but I couldn't.

I've loved absolutely every minute of law school so far and found it to be incredibly interesting. Contracts, Torts, Civ Pro, Constitutional Law, even Property. (Of course I liked Criminal and Criminal Procedure.)
It's actually a little scary - so far none of the reading or the lectures have bored me, except a when the professor has to spend time going over something I already understand.
When we got to interpleader in Civ Pro I told my fiancee how cool it was. She said this was proof that I'm nuts.

I personally like SVU, and I get waaaaay too into it. I have been known to shriek "NO!" at the television set, and to cry at the shows.
My mother and grandmother are also big Law and Order fans, something that aggravates my father to no end. Why? Maybe it has something to do with Mom's infatuation with Benjamin Bratt and Jerry Orbach... And that other guy, Chris Roth (I think).

Is Criminal Intent the one with the cop who knows everything? My husband and I always make fun b/c he seems to know incredibly obscure facts on every episode that help him solve the crime.

mmmm Extra crispy.... I am pretty sure that extra crispy Criminal Intent would be the best, but until they offer it, I am going with Criminal Intent.

SVU is my favourite, but I do like Vincent Donofrio in Criminal Intent. He knows all the obscure facts because he has a photographic memory and is very well read apparently. I also think that he and his partner have great chemistry in the show.

I don't care much for Criminal Intent. Actually I find it quite boring, a disappointment when compared to the fandome bliss that is the Original and SVU.
The whole show is just a huge ego boast to Vincent D'onofrio's character and his superior brainpower. You wait out the entire show just to hear him babble for 15 minutes about how he knew all along what was going on.

Belle: Yes, Elliot is extremely hot. And nice, haha. During finals, my friends and I would watch the reruns on USA and declare that he should come visit to make us feel better.
I like the original one as well, but the stories just don't seem as interesting. I've only sat through one episode of Criminal Intent.

I first saw her on ER. She worked in the ER and became Anthony Edwards' char's gf but she was being totally smothering and stuff, and something of a ditz. And she looked way hot with long hair.

Definitely SVU. I really like Richard Belzer (I miss "Homicide: Life on the Street"; also, as a bit of trivia, he also played Munch on an episode of "X Files") and Ice T (delicious irony that he's playing a cop). Also, the stories are just more interesting to me than the other shows, and the characters seem more genuine.
I don't like Criminal Intent, probably because Vincent Donofrio's character creeps me out.
Now, having said all that, I'm much more of a CSI fan (the original, not CSI:Miami) than any of the Law and Order shows.

(Watching the ep of ER with Marissa Hargitay)
I must weigh in on this topic. I am a rabid Law and Order fan, as evidenced by this LiveJournal entry. Consistently the episodes of SVU that I watch are good, but I love Jerry Orbach. I also like CI, because Vincent D'onofrio is so darn good. I just love them all. I plan on buying the DVD box sets with my tax rebate.

I like them all. A copout, perhaps, but I've been watching since the Chris Noth/Paul Sorvino days. I love the whole SVU cast, and I"m a big fan of Vincent D-Onofrio, even though he does hog screen time. They're making a new one, supposedly, that is mostly court-based. I am interested to see how that does.
Does anybody watch Crossing Jordan? I was so pumped when they brought it back. I love that show -- love the stories, love the characters, love the actors. It was a really tough call to miss CI and Crossing Jordan for Harry Potter last weekend.
