Challenge #1. Find a rhyme I didn't think of. Challenge #2. Next word to rhyme: nation. Make your list! Challenge #3. Give another rhyme. Choose one or all of the challenges. GO!

Um, we are talking American English here, not your silly Canadian stuff. Ration rhymes with Nation. Its not Rah-shen. Its not Rat Ion. Its good old fashioned Inflation Ration Nation.

For nation and ration to rhyme, they must be pronounced: nay-shun ray-shun I don't know of anyone who pronounces ration as "ray-shun". Usually the a in ration sounds like the a in "cat". However, dictionary.com allows either. [ February 20, 2004, 04:06 PM: Message edited by: Robespierre ]

Ration stars with rat - not to be confused with a rat ion, which is something that gets chased around the house by cations, which are not cay-shuns, but cat-eye-ons.

I thought the verb was 'rah-shuhn' and the noun was 'ray-shuhn'.

I was unbearably curious, so I looked in my dictionary and was stunned, absolutely floored, to see that "rayshun" is listed as an acceptable alternative pronunciation. I have to get a new dictionary. This one is obviously defective. [ February 20, 2004, 05:31 PM: Message edited by: UofUlawguy ]

Well, there's another word that rhymes with nation, but I don't think Papa Moose would approve.
