Mars is not inhabited by intelligent life. Basically, every time some species there got around to building a "technology," something about the planet would just destroy their efforts. I postulate that there is a world-spirit on Mars that is essentially a global Luddite of the highest order.

This is my explanation for what is happening to all the various probes that have been sent there. The planet spirit dampens every field, every movement. Even pounding two rocks together on Mars will earn you the wrath of this malevolent entity.

I think the rocks actually are the Martians, and they don't take kindly to being probed with cold metal prongs.

I don't think it's just the cold, metal probes. I think it's the fact that they're having their picture taken while being probed.

Yes, perhaps they have a system of morals similar to ours.

Maybe they want a "Martians Gone Wild!" t-shirt in exchange for these lewd acts?

Yes. Probing a cavity that's already there is one thing. But creating a cavity before you probe it is another thing altogether.

So, are you saying that the space alien that abducted me when I was 25, and...probed...me with that cold metal...probe, was no different than what we're doing to those poor, innocent Martian rocks.

I feel so unclean!

sys...it all depends. Did you get a t-shirt? And do you secretly wish they'd come back and probe you again?
