I expected to find out upon clicking the title that this thread was really started by someone whose member number was over 6,000, but I guess I'm just too sinical.

Because the point of the thread is to keep you out, and he can do it by limiting it to 2000.
Heh. I doubt anyone here really thinks they're in the elite because they have lower registration numbers. It's interesting to see how many of the first posters are still around, though.

Nice reversion to an old user name Anne Kate! I just love your date that you posted. You make us all look totally uncool by comparison. (pst, I'm her acolyte people. Therefore, I should also be cool.)

2,000 is a nice cutoff for some (not to mention any names or anything). And Kasie, you only missed by less than a month -- user #2,000 (who never posted) registered at the beginning of the same month you registered. Not that it matters, mind you, because 2,000 is so arbitrary.
So who cares?
quote:Why not under 1000? 500? 200? 100? 5?
Since users #1-121 were all registered at the same time, it would be silly to have a number below 121. The next reasonable cutoff after 121 would be 125 -- 5 cubed, divides evenly into 1,000. Now who's user #125, I wonder? Hmmm....
That's easy - because Hatrack was just getting rolling at 500, and didn't really reach it's stride till 1000. Then you have the golden age of Hatrack (around 1063 or so, just to estimate), until beginning to decline after 2000. Thus, the cutoff.

I was going to say something about that, too, Nick...

We had this discussion before. And the very fact that there actually was a discussion suggests otherwise.

I guess this is really the only bragging thread in which I belong... under 2000 posts and I'm number 394. Yay for old school!

I find it quite baffling that many of us who have been here longer STILL have post counts under 2,000. It seems that your member number could be directly proportional to the rate that your post count increases.
Kama, I hope this thread doesn't make you feel bad. I am the despiser of popularity threads, but this one really means NOTHING.

I love all these popularity threads! All of you guys are awesome!
Especially those that have member numbers less than 2K. I am merely in this thread to bask in their superior glory....
