I used to use a store called G*Mart, based in Champaign, because I still got the massive discounts but could pick the comics up locally, without paying shipping. You might still find that it offers substantial savings, although I don't know about the shipping costs to Australia:

What is it you're after, EG? I'm looking to get the second half of Paradise X once it comes out. (I know, I'm a junkie.)

Tom, thanks. Seems to be somewhat more expensive than Amazon for collected editions, unfortunately. Still, a good resource.

I'm actually after most of the Sandman books, the Alan Moore Swamp Thing collections and Watchmen. I'm also after a good place to get good prices on graphic novels generally as I'm becoming very interested in how literary some of those works are.

Heh. Just finished "From Hell" - which I bought on a whim last week - and am suddenly struck by how much I used to love well-written comic books. Like the "Elektra Lives" graphic novel that I have a hardback copy of somewhere.
I want more, dammit. And not just the Alan variety.

From Hell is brill. Sadly I'm not huge on comics other than those written by the usual "literary" suspects.

Actually, off the beaten path of "literary" comics, I have to recommend the following:
PS238 Runaways Powers Way of the Rat Ruse Alias (just ended)
Some of them are more decidedly "traditional" than others, but all of them are doing something interesting.

I use mailordercomics for current comic books and like it, but I am not sure how good it is for graphic novels.
