Are landmarks required, or can I go another few thousand? Anyhow - you all get lotsa tidbits in my regular posts - is that enough? Or do I change my name?

Not at all required. People tend to use them when they have something they want to say about themselves or someone clouse to them. But really anything's allowed. Heck "allowed" is completely the wrong term. Whatever you want to do is what you should do.

Landmarks are not required, no. However, I do enjoy them, mainly because while we do pick up tid bits here and there (like Nate's obsession with pickles and your grandma's driving) having it all laid out nice and neat is something that I enjoy.
But something that I can not say enough: if you feel a need to share your life with us, do not think that you HAVE to do it at a certain time. If and when you post it, we will read.

How 'bout I go to bed and sleep on it????? The Ativan's kicking in and I didn't realize I was so close . . . sigh. Story of my life.
Speaking of life, A really nice thing happened today. My car trunk wouldn't latch closed, so in in a fit of temper I threw my purse on the ground and went to the front to find thread to tie it closed. Of course, I drove off without the purse. As I was making panic-stricken calls to the store a strange blue truck drove in and a really nice lady and her husband handed my purse.
Isn't that neat?
That about catches my life in a nutshell, for those that are really interested.
Something bad, stupid, yucky happens. Fight or flight takes over and thinking stops. Angel of mercy saves the day.
All right - going nighty night now. I don't creak quite as much as CT, but almost!

Others have said it: no requirements. And if you do decide to do a landmark post, it doesn't have to be dark and confessional or anything like that. Some are, and there have been some beautiful and moving posts that have been completely uplifting and positive. It's only a function of what you feel like saying.
And, of course, it can be whenever you want. 1024 is a nice number: it's 2^10.

Shan - I haven't done a landmark yet. I think I will - sometime. I'm thinking about it. I consider them to be very important, which means I obsess and think and drag my feet and test the water and basically do the dance on the side of river figuring out how to do it, and hopefully I won't blow it.
But I need to do it, because if its important enough to do correctly, it's important enough to actually do (this is also my attitude towards the whole married thing).
That's it. I, Kat the Great, solemnly swear I will make a landmark post, mostly likely about the summer I turned 21, on my 8,000 post mark.
Added: *sigh* Turns out I already passed 8,000. When did that happen?
Okay, revise. I, Kat the Great, solemnly swear I will make a landmark post, most likely about the summer I turned 21, on my ...*gulp*... 9,000 post mark.

Hmm what is my post count. A great idea for a landmark came to me last night. I think I may start writing it on word to get the idea on paper and fine tune and polish and then post it at the appropriate time.

I was thinking on my 2000th, I'd post some pics.... (muses) It's easier than doing an actual landmark.

I can't. It's too soon. 10,000 posts seems like more a landmark - or at least a call for sanity. Something needs to happen then. That would be better.

I resisted landmarking, though I did make a speech when I hit 300. <laughs> Seriously, I was way out in front of everyone else and I was asked to tell how I did it. Wow, things change, don't they? But people should only do them if they really want to. It's purely optional.
Anyway, I think landmarks are usually very cool, and even if people are totally bored of us and don't want to know anything more about our lives, they can always just skip over, right? I did my first one at 6,000. I don't think I'll do another one until at least 10k and maybe later. Who knows? Maybe I'll just wait and let you guys read my biography if you're interested.
