... Was that a joke? What an odd article... PS. The Japanese have been wearing socks with sandals for thousands of years!

Man...this is a very funny article. My favorite quote out of it is this: quote: "It's embarrassing for them," said Nansi Rosenberg, senior archaeological consultant at EC Harris, which is managing the excavation. I had to forward this around the office to our archaeologists.

You try wearing sandals without socks during a London winter.

Yeah sax, get back in line or we'll quit buying all that giant robot anime Japan keeps sending our way. That'll send the economy into the great white toilet.

Give the poor Britons a break - they predated Doc Martens by nearly 2000 years. What do you expect them to do?!?

quote: You try wearing sandals without socks during a London winter Look, I know people who wear sandals without socks in a Canadian winter. You're telling me a bit of rain and slush is too much for dainty white toes?

The problem is you insist in wearing sandals DURING WINTER. Duh.

It probably wasn't wearing socks, it was probably just done by a really bad sculptor. Or maybe he was a prisoner put in jail by the fashion police and the statue was commending the judicial system of the time.
